I don't want to sound rude or anything but 2 plane incidents in Alaska in about a week's time...

makes one wonder what's happening.

1. Aircraft are used a great deal more in AK - the odds of accidents are increased...
That's what's happening...

12. I knew one Bush pilot that crashed and died , and knew of another that just disappeared, plus...
a third pilot that survived his crash but suffered severe brain damage, and that was just from my small town in the lower forty-eight states. There must be tons of planes that disappeared in Alaska over the years that we don't even know about.

5. I think she is an idiot
But that is just the wrong thing to think. I hope everyone onboard is OK.

6. I guess you're right.
I do hope they are ok.

I'll stand by my thoughts that the world would be a better place if she were no longer on it though.

7. So because you disagree
with her political views, you wish her dead? How do you think that would make her children feel? I hope nobody ever does that to you. I hope everyone is OK.

8. Keep it up, you'll make a great campaign commercial - for the
defeat of democrats. You obviously have never lost family or friends to a plane crash or you wouldn't act like Rove.

10. I agree with you 100%
I read the vile comments on the death of Ted Stevens 2 weeks ago on this web site and was just appalled at the lack of sympathy displayed there. I thought that as progressives, we were much more compassionate than the repukes.

9. If you're going to hope for anything, hope for her complete and total public humiliation
something so awful even her most ardent supporters turn their backs on her.

Now that would be something I could enjoy. An untimely death - not so much, well not at all.

11. K&R
And there have been more than a few plane crashes in Alaska of late, two of which involved huge C-17 transport planes stationed at Elmendorf AF Base.

Voices from the Flats – Last Man Flying

There have been a lot of plane crashes in Alaska in the last few weeks. A C-17 crashed at Elmendorf Air Force Base killing all four on board. A C-17 crashed in Denali Park killing another three. A flight crashed outside Dillingham killing Alaska political giant former Senator Ted Stevens and four others.

And then the other day came news of another crash near McGrath, killing a husband and wife – 79 year old John Graybill and Dolores, his 78 year old wife. My husband gave me the news of the crash, and I could tell by the look on his face when he asked me if I’d heard about it that he had a personal stake in this one. “The pilot was a friend of mine.”

15. The Otter crash and the C-17 crash were related in one aspect...
One young lady lost two family members...her husband on the C-17 (her husband was one of the three pilots), and her father on the DHC-3 Otter crash (her father was the pilot).

14. Oh dear
Both a good friend and a friend's husband are in Alaska.

Every time I hear about this I get worried. :(

(I mean, it sucks if anyone dies, but I still hope it's not anyone I know. :( )

16. When I was in Anchorage many years ago
we were staying on the 7th floor of a hotel. I was sitting by an open window and couldn't hear the conversation in the room. My initial reaction was the noise outside was from street traffic and turned to close the window. I realized we were too high up for street traffic and looked out the window to discover it was small aircraft traffic! There were dozens of planes in the sky. It was very odd.

Alaska is huge and some areas (the town where I was born, Seldovia) can only be reached by plane or boat.

There are tons of planes in Alaska.
