(Anti-Islam) English Defence League demonstration in Bradford sees minor clashes

Bottles, stones and a smoke bomb have been hurled by supporters of the English Defence League (EDL) and opponents from Unite Against Fascism during protests in Bradford.

About 700 people had gathered at the Urban Gardens, in the city centre, police said.

There were also between 250-300 people at the crown court plaza for the Unite Against Fascism/We Are Bradford event. Meanwhile, 150 people were at the community event called Be Bradford – Peaceful Together, at Infirmary Fields.

Supporters of the far-right EDL threw bottles, cans and stones over a barrier towards opponents gathered opposite the Urban Gardens.

A smoke bomb launched over a temporary 8ft-high wall between the two groups landed on the ground and exploded near uniformed police officers.

As Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Alveda King, and their fellow Tea Party sheep peacefully rallied in the Lincoln Memorial misusing Dr. King's legacy and avoided any violence with Al Sharpton's counter-demonstration, on the other side of the Atlantic the goons decided it was a good idea to pick a fight with the police. According to Wikipedia, the EDL is a single-issue org opposing "what it considers as the spread of Islamism, Sharia law and Islamic extremism in England." When countering sides protested at the site of the proposed Islamic cultural center/mosque at NYC there were only fighting words but no flying objects.

the article begins by implying that both sides were throwing things,
but only goes on to describe actions by EDL members/supporters.

I read the whole article, just to be sure I wasn't missing something.

the smoke bomb comes from the muslim side.....i think they (both sides ) were doing alot of nasty name calling and jeering at one another.
