Oakland TribuneHAYWARD -- For two Sundays in a row, a window has been broken at the local chapter of the NAACP.
On Aug. 22, the group wasn't the only victim. A pellet gun was fired into four offices and storefronts in the area of Second and B streets, about a block away from downtown, police said.
But Sunday, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People office was the only one hit, and the damage was more severe. Chapter President Freddye Davis said the incident is being taken "very seriously."
... Davis said the group has not received any threats, but they have received a "number of derogatory phone calls" regarding everything from the Tea Party to gay marriage and the legalization of marijuana.
"We've never had that volume of negative phone calls," she said. "I do believe something is going on."
