Sharron Angle: 'I'll be a mainstream senator'
Source: CNN

Las Vegas, Nevada (CNN) -- Nevada Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle just might be the Tea Party's biggest gamble yet.

A staunch conservative with a history of making bold and sometimes controversial comments, Angle insists her comments have been taken out of context in her campaign to oust Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in upcoming midterm congressional elections.

"I'll be a mainstream senator," said Angle.

* * *

In past remarks during the campaign, Angle has said Social Security and Medicare should be phased out. She's also advocated the elimination of the Departments of Education and Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency and the IRS.

Sharron Angle complains that her comments have been taken out of context, but here is a link to Angle's old primary website with all those comments that she is now trying to distance herself from:

1. I love these politicians that can't tell you what they really believe,
or they'd never get elected. By my count, that's all republicans and about a third of the dems.

21. Me too.
What an obvious, lameass lie. Like McCain recently saying he's never considered himself a maverick.

7. So she believes the crazy, but will lie, cheat, steal to keep 'her seat.'
Just what people want in a politician.

8. And, I'll be the starting pitcher for the Yankees tomorrow, in the first year
of my 10 year, $300 million contract.

I think I have a greater chance of that happening than Sharron Angle has of being "mainstream"

Don't forget that, Sharron. Wouldn't want you to look out of place.

15. Was it Sharron Angle that talked about bartering for healthcare?
I thought it was her opponent. Sharron Angle's the one who wants to bring back Prohibition--and she's trying to get the job of being senator to a state that sells or comps a massive amount of liquor.

suggesting she hop on the bandwagon is worth trying.

12. That's the scary part, this wacko thinks she is mainstream, already
and that a majority of people in this country agree with her crazy ideas.

Unless she's slapped down at the polls, she'll continue thinking it.

16. She's a total ass-hat....
I give michelle bachmann and sarah palin more credit than this numb skull. I'm sorry...but our country is f*cked up something bad, when we have nearly HALF the electorate seriously considering sending this idiot to Washington on their behalf.

I was just going over the poll numbers..and I'm hoping it was a repukkke website...cause it is scary. I can't believe Senator Murray is in trouble with some idiot contender in WA...but there are worse signs in the tea cup.

I'm hoping we can hang on, and maybe even pull some upsets. What I'm reading is NOT very positive for this country.

22. At what point can conservative delusions to preserve their binary world view be declared dementia?
Having to fit everything into 100% right or 100% wrong forces metal contortions on a daily basis, leading to being quite comfortable with hypocrisy and thinking that you are mainstream because everyone who will talk to you is the same kind of crazy.

26. Deluded fanatics ALWAYS believe they're in the majority.
Somehow, they still believe that even when they have to lie about their positions in order to be elected.
