Woodward book to be called 'Obama's Wars'
Source: Associated Press

Less than three weeks before publication, Bob Woodward's new book finally has a cover design and a title: "Obama's Wars." And the focus will not be on the economy - the top issue of the fall elections - but on foreign policy.

Woodward's latest investigative work will run 441 pages (Amazon.com had been listing the count at 464 pages) and show Obama "making the critical decisions on the Afghanistan War, the secret war in Pakistan and the worldwide fight against terrorism," Simon & Schuster announced Tuesday.

Woodward finished three weeks ago, according to an official with knowledge of the book. The official, who said the book includes little on the Iraq conflict, was not authorized to discuss "Obama's Wars" and asked not to be identified.

Now an associate editor at The Washington Post, Woodward teamed in the 1970s with fellow Post reporter Carl Bernstein on the paper's Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the Watergate scandal... Woodward's four best sellers on the George W. Bush administration also concentrated on foreign policy and the war on terrorism. As with his previous works, Woodward will draw upon internal memos, documents and interviews with key decision makers, including Obama.

1. They're his now.
He used to be against them, now he's for them. Kind of like he used to be for single-payer, got into office, and decided he wanted lots of campaign contributions so he needed to make corps his buddies. If he wants to end the wars, he should tell congress to stop funding them. But he won't.

2. He was never against Afghanistan. That was extremely clear during the election. You should have
paid attention.

He wasn't for single-payer during the campaign either.

This is where a lot of this "betrayal" crap comes from - people not listening to Obama during the campaign and imagining he was Dennis Kucinich or something.

15. +1
For the most part, he's either followed his campaign promises(i.e. getting some version of universal health care, financial regulations, Lilly Ledbetter Act, and the Stimulus) or atleast tried to(Guantanamo Bay, DADT repeal, cap-and-trade).

4. How so? Because a Republican named his book to frame a useful GOP meme?
He was never against Afghanistan and he ended the Iraq war. The war in Afghanistan is on schedule to end soon enough. Single payer never had the votes.

<< I hear he used to be for the Constitution too. >>

You do know Pres. Obama was a constitutional law professor and mentored by liberal legal legend Lawrence Tribe, right? :wtf:

5. Can this guy's reputation go even lower?
What a sad and sorry excuse for a journalist and a writer Mr. Woodward decided to become.

6. Obama Is Making a Habit Of Fighting The Wrong Wars
and for the wrong people.

He ought to be fighting for the people who voted for him. But instead, he's fighting for those that paid him (off).

He ought to seek the support of people who liked him, his "base". Instead he goes hat in hand after the GOP, who spurn him with great glee to rousing applause from THEIR base.

If that isn't sheer willful stupidity, it's paralyzing fear of success.

And he really ought to give back that Nobel.

9. Guess you didn't catch his Milwaukee speech yesterday, eh?

Here's a link to the video and news story: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2010/09/06/obama-they-talk-about-me-like-a-dog/

(CNN) – Those following President Obama's prepared remarks during a speech in Milwaukee, Wisconsin Monday were thrown a bit of a curveball when it came to a description of his critics:

"Some powerful interests who had been dominating the agenda in Washington for a very long time and they're not always happy with me. They talk about me like a dog. That's not in my prepared remarks, but it's true," he told a crowd largely consisting of union members.

He's always been fighting the right wars and just ended one in Iraq, as promised. The one in Afghanistan will end soon enough, too.

Pres. Obama has always had high majority support from his base, as every poll of self-described liberals proves. As a lifelong liberal activist, I support him. Some people make a habit of minimizing and demonizing all of Obama's efforts, though.

16. Dems had since 2007 to end Bush's foolish wars. Time's up in November.
America threw the Repubs out of office so that the Dems could stop the funding of Bush's wars. But what did the Dems do? Nothing.
