Cops: Iraq vet tries to burn down home

Witnesses said man was threatening others, self

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A Northeast Albuquerque home erupted in flames overnight after neighbors said a man inside threatened to kill others and himself.

Neighbors in the 600 block of Vista Abajo Northeast said that the man was threatening others when he set his house on fire. Neighbors said the man is an Iraq War veteran who had just returned home.

He is currently in custody. Arson investigators will continue their investigation on how the fire started.

1. awesome. clearly the actions of a rational man
in need of no mental healthcare. we can all just move along.

some communities have veterans courts, I hope this is one of them. This troop needs help.

But I'm sure these incidents are about the prospect of tax cuts for the wealthy expiring at the end of this year, and not because we splurged on war and scrimped on the aftermath. So let's not have any irresponsible talk about raising Paris Hilton's taxes or spending more on veteran aftercare. We're in a recession, you know, so we don't have money to squander on any of this stuff. Besides, any minute now the overrich are going to start creating jobs all over the place!
