Trapped Chilean Miners Showing Signs of Cabin Fever

The 33 Chilean miners who have been trapped underground for more than a month are no longer celebrating their miraculous survival, and are reportedly growing irritable and rebellious thousands of feet below ground.

The miners were upset when they were denied wine and cigarettes by authorities concerned about health implications. They were also angered when a request for empanadas was also denied, according to Chilean news outlets.

And Time.com has reported that the miners, evidently going stir crazy, have taken to riding machinery vehicles "recklessly" through the mine tunnels.

Refused the provisions they crave, the miners rejected a shipment of peaches that were sent down to them through a narrow tunnel that is their link with the world above, according the report.

8. I didn't realize they could walk in tunnels....I thought they were

stuck in that one big room...hope they can keep it together
until they are rescued....I never smoked pot but I think it would calm them down..god help all of them

London, Sept.9 : Trapped Chilean miners were given a special treat - the opportunity to watch their national team play football.

Footage of Chile's friendly against Ukraine last night was beamed down to the miners through a fibre optic cable sent down a bore hole.

The 33 miners were able to watch a 50 in image of the action on a wall in their underground home.

Former international star Franklin Lobos acted as commentator, while Chile's national football team wore T-shirts with messages of support for the miners, The Sun reports.

The men, who have been trapped since August 5 following a landslide at the gold and copper mine in the Atacama desert, sung and cheered their team on.
