Former President Bush to speak at Reagan Library in November
Source: Ventura County Star

Former President George W. Bush will be speaking at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum on Nov. 18.

As part of the library’s “Perspective on Leadership Forum,” Bush will be discussing his memoir “Decision Points,” which brings readers inside the Texas governor’s mansion on the night of the hotly contested 2000 election, and aboard Air Force One on 9/11 in the hours after the attack on the World Trade Center Towers.

The book also goes into detail about Bush at the head of the table in the Situation Room in the moments before launching the war in Iraq, and at the Oval Office during controversial decisions on the financial crisis, Hurricane Katrina and other notable events.

He also offers intimate new details about his decision to quit drinking, the discovery of his faith, and the relationship with his family.

high school proms. Puke. Having to spend prom night in that den of Repuke horrors makes me glad I'm not a local high school kid. It's a weird place peopled by pasty old white couples. I hope Bush's presence inspires some protests. If so, sign me up.

10. 20 years ago I lived nearby in Thousand Oaks...
when I was laid off from the software job I had back then, I had to go to the unemployment office in Simi Valley to sign up for benefits. As I recall, the office was within sight of the Reagan Library, which I found strangely appropriate.

15. Proms? Really? Of all the events I could think of to hold there, that wasn't one.
Wonder what other Presidential libraries do that?

Could you have a prom at the Nixon Library down in Whittier? But then again who would want to?

16. Yep. Proms are held there and at the Nixon Library. Here's a

18. I'm sure the Reagan people picked the site in Simi because the
land was cheap, not because the Reagans had any ties to the area - which they don't. Simi is hardly a garden spot, and the local population not the world's most sophisticated.

7. I'm sure we'll hear all about
Those eight minutes he sat frozen in the chair in Atlanta, the "real" evidence of WMDs in Iraq, the rationale for invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11, John McCain's birthday party, Ob-Gyn's practicing their love for women, and making the pie higher. High level intellectual stuff like that.

13. The Reagan library proudly displays the "Bedtime for Bonzo" movie poster.
Edited on Wed Sep-08-10 09:24 PM by LibDemAlways
It's certainly a fitting artifact for a visit by the chimp. Perhaps he'll pose next to it with his trademark moronic shit-eating grin on his puss. It's a sure bet Bonzo would have the highest IQ in the pic.

11. I feel the headline is a bit misleading.
I've never heard Bush actually speak. It's more likely he'll mumble gibberish like a confused child.

12. Wonder just how much bullshit it'll be filled with.
"8.6.2001. I woke up early. Took a shit, tripped over Barney on my way to the kitchen. Condi was waiting for me there with some memo and she told me it was important. I thought, 'I'm the President of the goddamn United States! I don't have to read no memos!' So I didn't. I later found out that maybe I should have read it. Oh well, that 9/11 attack sure was a great excuse for bombing Iraq and killing that guy who wanted to kill Daddy."
