"So let me be clear to Mr. Boehner and everybody else," he continued. "We should not hold middle-class tax cuts hostage any longer."
Obama's plan calls for extending tax cuts for households earning less than $250,000 a year, while allowing the marginal rates for higher earners to increase as scheduled Dec. 31.
"For those who claim that this is bad for growth and bad for small businesses, let me remind you that with those tax rates in place, this country created 22 million jobs, raised incomes, and had the largest surplus in history," he said.

Well, to be clear, today he said, "We should not hold middle-class tax cuts hostage any longer."This is a bit weaker than the statement at the top of the home page, "Obama Won’t Extend Bush-Era Tax Cuts to Wealthy"
I wish he had said, "I will not pass any legislation Extending Bush-Era Tax Cuts to Wealthy"
Because of all his equivocating on the public option, frankly, it still leaves me nervous.
We really need some powerful, simple, clear statements on this in order to motivate the Dem base, IMHO. And let's appoint Warren.
Good sign, but let's ramp it up!
