Bombing victim wants FBI to hand over evidence

(09-08) 16:54 PDT SAN FRANCISCO -- It's an infamous case that never seems to go away, even after millions of dollars have been paid out in civil settlements and police say the trail has gone cold.

The case is the 1990 bombing in Oakland of Earth First environmental activists Judi Bari and Darryl Cherney, who were nearly killed when a nail-studded explosive device blew up in their car.

Nobody was ever charged with the attack, and now two decades later, the FBI wants to destroy the last bits of evidence it has been storing ever since the investigation dribbled dry - remnants of the bomb and one like it that blew up in a North Bay town a few days earlier.

Not so fast, says Cherney, 54, who has never given up trying to solve the case himself.

1. This is the first I've heard of this case. Very interesting.

Basically, these two were accused of having the bomb, and it made national headlines. But when it was found out that the bomb was triggered to go off when it was being driven, then it just fell down the memory hole.

cover up. His 'investigative' work there foreshadowed his stellar performance as l'il bush's Iraq czar.

Usually terrorists who commit a high-profile atrocity, like the Fl 103 bombing, brag about it to get media attention for their cause. In this case, officials said there were 'no credible claims' of responsibility, and our gov and media gave us a constantly changing cast of terrorist organizations that were responsible. The gov actually floated a story that said in the headline 'New Terrorist Tactic: Don't Claim Responsibility'. At one point, our gov invented an organization called the "Palestinian Popular Struggle Front" and blamed them, though they were not heard of before (or since). It took over a year before they admitted that C 4 was the explosive, when you could see that the vaporization of the plane couldn't have been caused by conventional explosives. When 'the experts' finally said it was unconventional explosives, they claimed it was Semtex, the Czech version of C 4, until the howl of protest from the Eastern Bloc forced them to back off of that lie.

The official story on the path of the bomb changed over and over, and they gave us the Rube Goldberg version of the path: Middle East to Cyprus (or Malta) to Hamburg to Scotland to (toward) US. The Brits and Israel kept pushing Palestinian suspects, while the US kept pushing Iranian suspects, then all of the sudden it was the Libyans. The official story says both the CIA and DEA were involved before the flight exploded, and our gov floated the idea that the flight was bombed to kill a DIA agent on the plane, or bombed by a non-terrorist individual to target a single person on the plane.

Despite the 'bombed to target one passenger' theory, most accounts ignore the existence of an OSI agent (Dept. of Justice nazi hunter) named Michael Bernstein on the flight. No mention of the 'Kameradenwerk' as a suspect, though they were behind the La Belle Discotheque bombing in Berlin a year and a half earlier, (and interestingly, that attack was also pinned 'officially' on Libya).

Libya's leadership is bad, but couldn't blow the giant smoke screen that we've seen in the 103 bombing. Right wing elements in the US gov, with their actual nazi operatives (from Project Paperclip or Overdark, Odessa, the Gehlen Org, the Kameradenwerk, etc.) committed this crime.

This thread is the first time that I heard the bomb had a motion activation component.

EF! had no record of using nail bombs, ever. All of the sudden, they were not only using anti-personnel bombs, but transporting them under their car seats, to an accoustic guitar benefit concert? Typical nazi gov and corp bull, transparently false, but they're sticking to their story.

Judi's ties to labor are what made her such a threatening environmentalist, and such a prime target. Ideologically, she was diametrically opposed to the 'deep ecology' (ecofascism) espoused by people like Foreman. The gov is always trying to pit labor against environmentalists, and vice versa, when both have the same enemy: Big money pigs who want to destroy the earth and don't care how many people die from their activities. Judi bridged the gap by showing working people that they couldn't live by destroying the earth, and showing environmentalists that the working people weren't the enemy, but are part of the environment and in need of protection too.
