7. 595 isn't it?
Saddly and quietly slipping towards 600 dead american men, women, boys, girls, older men, older women. Soon it will be 1000, if it isn't already, I thought people would lift their heads as the toll climbed to 500. I was wrong, I've been wrong many times, but never as wrong as this whole sorry mess is.
If it means anything, I'll remember this soldier and all the ones who have gone before, and let me say to their families that if I could your loved ones would be home with you today.

9. almost 600 now...west of Baghdad where Michael is
some days I just sit and think about the unthinkable and prepare a little part of myself for it, because it could happen.
His unit is under mortar attack a lot, and hes trying to protect us from telling us about it, but he says it anyway.
In the meantime, another mom and dad get the news, and have to live the rest of their lives knowing their kid died for nothing.
The Bu$h admin killed that child.

13. To paraphrase Kerry "Who will be the last soldier to die in Iraq?"
He asked the question of Nixon about Vietnam. I suspect it'll be a long time before the last American dies in Iraq. Long after Bush is permanently back in Crawford.

14. what did this soldier die for?
what do you tell his or her family? someone in the united states will get the call about this death-taking away the most important thing in their life-what of the wounded-we have a disposable military and the government expects them to die for the Caesar in the white house
