He meant principles that have not yet been nullified by Executive Orders.

11. Nothing has been nullified
The vigorous and heated condemnation of Jones' petty protest whose only - ONLY intent is to insult muslims worldwide - that condemnation that has come from NATO leaders, General Petraus, Interpol, Clinton, and a wide host of interfaith religious leaders - all that condemnation is FREEDOM OF SPEECH PERSONIFIED.

Interesting that the latest is that Jones has said he will reconsider IF the White House asks him to. He lays a trap for Obama and waits to see if Obama takes the bait.

You have posited that it is now the role of America to explain to the "muslim world" how freedom of speech trumps protection of religious artifacts. Freedom of speech against this insult, condemning in the most vociferous - but peaceful manner is what the Muslim world needs to see. The "muslim world" needs to understand that the vast majority of America utterly totally completely rejects this bigot. The muslim world needs to see the strength and power of Freedom of Speech, of an affirmation of religious tolerance - which, by the way, is the very reason that Freedom of Speech cam into being. It is one of the reasons why America is as great as it is - and Jones flaunts it behind the protection of his "church."

No one has denied him....but as he faces a conflagration of condemnation for his symbolic insult - then it is his own fault for being so petty, smallminded and bigotted.

13. Perhaps we'll let him/her tell us what he means for him/herself.
How does that sound to you? Or did you two discuss this somewhere else and agree on what each other meant?

Thanks.

8. Just can't help yourself, can you? You gotta get your dig in
at Obama, no matter what, eh? You're not even on topic here. This is not about anything other than the moran who wants to burn Korans. This is not a general Obama-bashing thread. I'm sure you can find one of those somewhere.

Or are you just tweaking Obama's nose?

12. Don't insult our intelligence. You're not even on the topic of
this thread. You're just poking at the Obama Administration in general. This is a thread about his statement today regarding the Koran burning. It is not about torture. It is not about anything else. It is about this specific statement. Do you have any insights to offer about that statement? Do you agree with President Obama regarding that statement? Disagree?

15. And as for agreeing or disagreeing the
batshit preacher can do whatever wants. If he wants to burn a Bible, Quran or the American flag he has that right.

16. Indeed he does. And President Obama did not suggest otherwise.
It's one thing to have the right to do a stupid thing. It's quite another to do it after you've been warned that it will have terrible effects. The right is still there, but the stupidity dominates.

Or, perhaps you consider this act to be a well-reasoned one and justified? I have no idea. You don't seem to be addressing the Koran burning issue at all. You appear to be attempting to hijack the thread.

If you click General Discussion, then Post, you can actually create your own thread on your choice of topic. Maybe you didn't know that.

17. Where do you get that I think this act to be
well-reasoned one and justified? I just hate hypocrisy. When someone spouts American values or American principles on one issue but then ignores the terrible wrong on the other issues it sticks in my gut.

I just got tired of hearing about family values, American values and American principles. It just seems to me that politicians don't practice what they preach.
