NY Minute: Albany Tea Party activist on hunger strike over Hannity's failure to interview Paladino
Source: Syracuse Post Standard

Mahatma Gandhi, Irish Republican Army prisoners and American suffragists viewed the hunger strike as the ultimate form of nonviolent protest against oppression. On Thursday, local Tea Party activist Tom Cavanaugh began fasting in order to draw attention to a slightly less weighty issue of political justice: Fox News host Sean Hannity's failure to interview GOP gubernatorial hopeful Carl Paladino on his syndicated radio show.

Well Carl suggested housing people on Welfare in State Prisons to teach them personal hygiene maybe he can include his followers and teach them some common sense.

1. I give the hunger striker 5 days before he caves in.
But only if he gets media coverage.

Otherwise he caves in 2.

4. I don't think a hunger strike by one individual really matters anymore.
don't care about this Tom Cavanaugh & I'm sure if he collapses somebody will get him treatment, and I'm POSITIVE Hannity doesn't care!

11. How many teabaggers does it take to screw in a light bulb?
None of them! They don't realize they've been wandering around in the dark all along. OK, lame. And I agree with the majority of posters. His cholesterol and triglycerides will probably be screaming with relief at the reprieve they're getting from his hunger strike for however long or short it lasts.

13. You know four pints of Guinness supplies all the daily nutrition a man needs.
Better make sure the juice isn't "juiced".

There is truth in the old ad slogan "Guinness is good for you".

15. Kudos to Hannity for not giving this guy airtime...
Edited on Fri Sep-10-10 01:44 PM by Earth_First
He is absolutely a disgusting, rascist son of a jackass who believes that welfare/medicade/care recipients need "soft skills" training in life i.e. bathing, dental hygiene etc.

Palandino is on record as saying such.

p.s. did I really give Sean Hannity a 'kudos'?

20. Hannity Hunger Strike called on account of hunger
“I’m sore,” said Tom Cavanaugh. “I’m very tired. I really need a steak.”

Speaking by cell phone from outside the studios of WABC in midtown Manhattan, the East Berne conservative activist announced he would be ending his fast at midnight tonight. Cavanaugh began his protest Thursday morning to convince Fox News personality and radio host Sean Hannity to interview GOP gubernatorial hopeful Carl Paladino, who has not appeared on Hannity’s radio show despite multiple visits by Rick Lazio.

21. This is what passes for news in 2010 dumbed down America.
Hey, media, it's something similiar to burning Q'urans: Just because you CAN cover every dumb, pot-stirring story doesn't mean you SHOULD cover a dumb, pot-stirring story.

"All the news that's FIT to print" was not a bad goal, even though everyone seems to have walked away from it.

23. They can't help but cheapen anything they steal from
We see it time and again where their hyperbole rules when they decide to do something. All out of proportion to their subject matter. Can't get their way, Nazis are oppressing them. Not getting beef every day for lunch, they are suffering like the Jews and Romany in the death camps. It is so insulting the way they trash important things with their whining for not being treated like Richy Rich.

25. UPDATE: Hunger strike called on account of hunger
from the http://blog.timesunion.com/capitol/archives/31549/hannity-hunger-strike-called-on-account-of-hunger/">Albany Times-Union:

Hunger strike called on account of hunger

“I’m sore,” said Tom Cavanaugh. “I’m very tired. I really need a steak.”

Speaking by cell phone from outside the studios of WABC in midtown Manhattan, the East Berne conservative activist announced he would be ending his fast at midnight tonight. Cavanaugh began his protest Thursday morning to convince Fox News personality and radio host Sean Hannity to interview GOP gubernatorial hopeful Carl Paladino, who has not appeared on Hannity’s radio show despite multiple visits by Rick Lazio.

...snip...

Wait a minute — didn’t Cavanaugh say just yesterday that he was committed to holding out until Hannity caved or until Monday evening, when he would return to the Capital Region to cast his primary vote and probably eat a hoagie or something?

Well, he’s had second thoughts about that whole “whatever it takes” bit. Cavanaugh’s reasons for quitting:
* He’s really hungry: See above.
* He’s afraid for his safety: “I was told by the powers that be that they wouldn’t be able to guarantee my safety,” Cavanaugh said. Who did he mean — WABC? No, the cops: The furor over the now-suspended Koran-burning in Gainseville, Fla., could make him a target tomorrow, when the city would be remembering the 9/11 attacks. Who might attack him, you ask? Angry Muslims, Cavanaugh said: “I wear an American flag do-rag — that’s a provocation right there.”
* Hannity isn’t responding — and doesn’t do his program on the weekends, anyway. I asked Cavanaugh yesterday about the wisdom of starting a hunger strike so late in the week.
* He’s needed back home: Cavanaugh said Paladino’s campaign staff told him he could be of use promoting Paladino back in the Capitol Region — though probably not as a hunger striker, one would suppose.
