Lieberman Favors Extension of Bush-Era Tax Rates
Source: The New York Times

WASHINGTON — With the focus now shifting to the Senate over a potential compromise on the expiring Bush-era income-tax cuts, Senator Joseph I. Lieberman, the Connecticut independent who is aligned with the Democrats, said on Monday that he favored maintaining the lower rates for everyone, including the wealthiest Americans, for at least one more year.

“I don’t think it makes sense to raise any federal taxes during the uncertain economy we are struggling through,” Mr. Lieberman said in remarks prepared for delivery to the chamber of commerce in Middlesex, Conn. “The more money we leave in private hands, the quicker our economic recovery will be. And that means I will do everything I can to make sure Congress extends the so-called Bush tax cuts for another year, and takes action to prevent the estate tax from rising back to where it was.”

President Obama and Democratic leaders in Congress have proposed making the lower rates permanent for individuals earning up to $200,000 a year and couples earning up to $250,000, but letting them expire for those with higher incomes. Republicans want them extended for the wealthy as well.

12. Democrats attacked, then abandoned Lamont and Rethugs did about the same with their guy.
Plus, Joe had all the usual advantages of a long-time incumbent and former VP candidate.

Ain't DLC grand?

8. Except that isn't t true Joe
The wealthiest did not reinvigorate the economy with their tax cut. They invested in foreign countries instead.

The longer that money stays in foreign hands - the less likely jobs will ever see a rebound. And it is JOBS that the economy needs to provide.

9. If you are in Lieberman's district, please send him the info about
where the tax cuts are going. They are not being invested in the U.S. That's the problem. We need to have wealthy Americans invest here in our country.

They didn't invest here under Bush and they are not investing here under Obama. And it is not entirely their fault. We do not do enough to discourage them from investing overseas.

10. Of course he does
he knows his ass will be on the street in 2012 and he's:

1) Looking out for his own bottom line

2) Currying favor with Wall Street so he'll get lucrative "consulting" fees and board memberships.

Scumbag!

11. That's becuase he's proabably now one of these super millionaire types
or will be once he becomes a lobbyist for the health care industry.

Clearly he does not represent the populace of CT but rather the corporate super millionaire types.
