Congressman Ciro Rodriguez falls behind in Texas primary recount
Apparently, 304 votes just amazingly were found at a bank that is owned by one of Cuellar's closest supporters. Cuellar was appointed to be secretary of state by Rick Perry and has apparently endorsed Bush. It will be very, very sad if Rodriguez, a fine congressman, is replaced by this traitor and liar, Henry Cuellar.

Former Texas Secretary of State Henry Cuellar has surged ahead of Rep. Ciro Rodriguez in the ongoing recount in the Lone State State’s 28th district Democratic primary.

Cuellar now holds a lead of either 20 or 30 votes (reports conflicted at press time).

Webb County, Cuellar’s home base, was being counted Tuesday night but, if anything, was expected to increase his lead.

Four other counties will retabulate today and Thursday.

The reversal of fortune came Tuesday morning when election officials found 304 uncounted ballots in Zapata County; Cuellar’s margin in that county more than offset his original 145-vote deficit in the March 9 primary.

1. It will be a shame if Rodriguez loses
Cuellar is basically a republican from my point of view. He definitely needs to be kept out of congress and it seems like he is using illegal means to try to get in. Also, Cuellar has shown his disloyalty by running against Rodriguez even though Rodgriguez campaigned for him when he ran against republican Henry Bonilla in 2002.

3. Loyalty?
There is no such animal in politics. Cuellar shouldn't have run against Rodriguez, but loyalty has nothing to do with it.

4. Loyalty does have something to do with it
If Cuellar is willing to backstab a former ally just for his own political interest than it shows something about his character. It shows even more that Cuellar isn't a good person and goes to show how he flirts with both the republican and democratic parties because he doesn't care about anything except getting into congress. I think that his character matters whether I would want him in congess.

5. I hate to break it to you
but many, if not most, politicians are perfectly willing to backstab friends and allies, former or otherwise, for personal gain. Now don't get me wrong - most don't, because that's not a good way of winning future friends. But it is a bit naive to think that they wouldn't do it. You've got to be more than a little arrogant, more than a little ambitious, and more than a little ruthless to want to represent a Congressional District of almost a million people.

6. I don't doubt that it is a fairly common practice
But, it doesn't make it right. If he wants to backstab his former ally like that then he can do it. But, it just shows that he is a person who can't be trusted at all. He has flirted with the republican party and the fact that he is blatantly betraying his former ally (this isn't like he betrayed him in some backroom deal, he ran against the guy) makes me think that he may just be the type of person that could betray the party as well and help the republicans even more.

7. Please don't misinterpret what I was saying
I'm not saying I support Cuellar or that I approve of what he's doing, I'm just saying its nothing out of the ordinary.
