Fox relents: Will run ad tonight about News Corp $1 million donation against Dems
Source: Washington Post

It took a few weeks, but Media Matters has finally succeeded in getting Fox News to run its ad about the $1 million donation its parent company News Corporation gave to the Republican Governors Association.

Fox has informed Media Matters the spot will run tonight during Bill O'Reilly's show, a Media Matters spokesperson tells me. In order to get Fox to agree to run the spot, the ad had to be tweaked several times.

... The final spot directly mentions that Fox has mostly avoided covering the dust up over the $1 million donation. "And now, a special message about a story that's not yet been covered on Fox News primetime," the narrator says.

... The kicker: Media Matters confirms to me that the ad will run only once. The spot, of course, has now gotten plenty of free airtime from news outlets covering the dustup. Which means this gambit worked: Fox's initial refusal to air the spot earned it far more exposure than it otherwise would have received.

2. It won't affect the O'Lielly watchers.
Billo rants about media matters all the time and lies about them big time! They have already been indoctrinated.

8. I see it another way
Conservatives will see this as a positive ad, not a negative one. They believe Fox SHOULD support Republicans. The ad didn't even hint that there was anything wrong with the donation. It assumes that the wiewer has a clue about journalistic ethics.

3. I suspect that after the ad runs O'Reilly will go into a 20 minute diatribe against it and that is
what the teabaggers will pay attention to, not the ad itself.
