Musharraf to launch party next month

Former Pakistan military ruler Pervez Musharraf has said he will formally launch his political party next month.

He is expected to announce the establishment of the All Pakistan Muslim League in London on 1 October.

Speaking in Hong Kong, Mr Musharraf told reporters he would return to Pakistan for the next national elections, scheduled for 2013.

The former president went into exile in 2008 after his allies were beaten in elections; he now lives in London.

Mr Musharraf announced earlier this year he would set up the All Pakistan Muslim League to address "the crises facing Pakistan", and the party began a public recruitment campaign.
