New look for the Democrats (new DNC website)
Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) – The Democratic National Committee's up with a new website, which includes a new logo and slogan.

The DNC unveiled Democrats.Org Wednesday morning. The logo is a capitol D in light blue surrounded by a darker blue circle. The slogan is "CHANGE THAT MATTERS," which the party says highlights what they call their many accomplishments since President Barack Obama took over in the White House and Democrats expanded their majorities in Congress.

The site also includes an easier way for people to learn more about the Democratic lawmakers and candidates in their states and districts. DNC Chairman Tim Kaine is expected to give more details about the website when he speaks later Tuesday at an event at George Washington University in Washington.

The new website is part of a push by the party to try to help soften what could be blows to their majorities in the House and Senate in November's midterm elections.

3. Equating disappointment at the much hyped roll-out of a website
Edited on Wed Sep-15-10 12:29 PM by hlthe2b
with somehow being anti-Democratic Party? Sometimes an unrec is accidental; sometimes it reflects frustration; sometimes it probably reflects boredom with the topic; sometimes it probably means absolutely nothing.

I am not sure I have ever unrec'ed a thread. I can't really see any point in doing so. But, I just don't understand why some make so much about it. If it would stop all the hand-wringing, I would gladly back your request to discontinue the function...

Maybe someone thinks the logo sucks. Your post has no content.

22. I recommended it. Here's why:
It's just staggeringly stupid that this is what yesterday's hype was about... it's just so flagrantly dumb that I think people will want to see it, which is why I recommended it. But I could see some unrec'ing it for the same reason. It's like a train wreck... some look away, others don't. I guess you and I are of the latter group.

Does that clear it up for you?

This is what companies do when their existing product sucks and they don't want to fundamentally address why it sucks.

8. OH BOY makes me want to run right out and vote. See how crazy
the whitehouse was. They got rid of Howard Dean as chairman. He went out and got campaigns in the 50 states and got Democrats elected. They replaced him with Tim Kaine who goes out and gets someone to design a new logo...boy that logo is gonna help us win in November. And they wanta know why the base is upset. Can the Democrats in charge get more kooky. Maybe they will catch up with the tea bags. Ya think.

They've really got one on the ground floor, called The Democratic National Club.

I've spent some time in there. The bartender's name is Joseph.

23. This emphasises continuity
It's not an attempt to sell an old product. The "O" is much like the Obama "O," and "D" has been shorthand for Democrats forever. Even the "Change that Matters" slogan is in the same font used on the Obama "Change" materials. The dark and light blue colors also recall the campaign.

25. This is beyond pathetic.
Why is this unbelievably incompetent jackass in charge of anything more complicated than a fro-yo dispenser at Dairy Queen? We seriously tossed Howard Dean aside for this? A new website is going to 'soften the blow' in the elections?

I am utterly perplexed at how anyone thinks Tim Kaine is doing a good job.

We need new spines for Democrats.

Do you seriously think you are going to turn people out with a new web site?

Try keeping your damned promises and stop caving to the GOP.

The Democratic brand is positive, energizing and modern, especially compared to the brand of the party of radicalized anger.

We are the party of change. Sometimes it's extremely incremental or too much of a compromise, but there have been many positive things that have happened since President Obama has been in office. Not everything, but I'm feeling extra hopeful today. :)

The quote from Tim Kaine as reported by the blog is great:
“More than 75 million Americans describe themselves as Democrats. ... There is no single picture of a Democrat. Our party is as diverse as it is large. ... But as Democrats, we are united by one common aspiration: to make our country better—not for a few select individuals, but for all Americans. ...

“Voters turned to Democrats looking for change, and we have delivered the change that matters. Social Security. Medicare. The minimum wage. The G.I. Bill. The Civil Rights Act. The Voting Rights Act. Equal pay. Family and medical leave guarantees. Balancing the federal budget. I could go on and on.”

I like how whitehouse.gov is amping up, too.
