Arctic sea ice levels third-lowest on record
Source: Canadian Press

Arctic sea ice levels have reached their third-lowest level on record.

Scientists at the U.S. National Snow and Ice Data Center say sea ice across the Arctic has reached the end of the summer melt and is now starting to refreeze.

Suggestions earlier this summer that the ice was recovering have now been ruled out and it seems the long-term decline is continuing.

3. Ice volume is the lowest ever
This year was very, very sobering. There's still one big solid cap north of Canada, but the rest of the ice is very fragmented. And the weather conditions were conducive to preserving the ice, unlike in 2007. :(

4. Carbon pollution from burning fossil fuels is changing our planet
Global warming is becoming apparent to anyone who is paying attention. Soon the ice pack on Greenland will be retreating raising sea level world wide. The deniers and republicans won't be doing anything about it until lower Manhattan is flooded.

5. The sooner the better.

Let's hope that it happens soon then so that the people who are so busy
fighting reality for the sake of short-term profit are actually affected
by the impact of their deliberate behaviour (rather than just passing
the "cost" on to future generations).
