President Obama slams GOP in pre-election campaign finance fix push

President Obama on Saturday slammed congressional Republicans for opposing efforts that would force special-interest groups to disclose their donors for campaign-related activities.

Obama in his weekly address acknowledged that any fix would be too late for the 2010 election and encouraged voters that the power of the election lies in their hands and that “millions of dollars spent on misleading ads do not drown out” the voters’ voice.

“It’s up to all of us to defend that most basic American principle of a government of, by, and for the people. What’s at stake is not just an election. It’s our democracy itself,” Obama said.

“It’s a power grab, pure and simple. They’re hoping they can ride this wave of unchecked influence all the way to victory,” Obama said.

They also have the can't turn back mantra.

They been pushing for complete oligarchy, they got caught, so they have to try and make it happen anyways.

They aren't able to turn back. So they have to be removed by their inability to correct the situation.

3. Democrats dropped the ball

when they gained control of Congress in 06. The first order of business should have been impeaching Scalia and Thomas for not recusing themselves in Bush v. Gore. Both had an interest in Bush taking power. Scalia's son worked for the firm representing bush and Thomas' wife was on the Bush transition team.
Since they lacked the political will to do the right thing, we the people, and democracy itself, will reap the whirlwind of political corruption on a scale never before chronicled in History's pages.

sadly, I agree. In my 55 years, I've never seen things so hopeless. We rode in on a wave of optimism with Obama's election and takeover of both houses. It's been nothing but crap for the past 18 months - with Palin and her wannabees doing the crapping!
