Schwarzenegger says raising taxes may be unavoidable
Quoting:

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger hinted that raising taxes may be unavoidable, acknowledging he is under extreme pressure to increase the state's revenue to offset a $14 billion budget shortfall.

Schwarzenegger, who has opposed new taxes, said on Tuesday it would be "wishful thinking" to assume the state would not increase taxes.

I wonder what happened to all the fraud and waste he was supposed to find? And why wouldn't the republican minority block any tax increase? They did so when Grey Davis was governor.

Wasn't that the Governator's magic plan for solving the state's financial woes - a cursory romp through the budget that would unearth billions and billions in savings?

Oh, you mean that didn't work out? Gosh, what a shocker!

"I will be the Collectonator," he said moronically.

And the dumb Schmuck actually believed Washington politicians liked and respected him when they swarmed for photo ops with him. How naive.

and I have a few coworkers who swallowed that line as a brilliant strategy! Problem is the State budget is a public document and you can even view it online, it's not like the book wasn't already OPEN!!

Dumbasses. I can't wait to bring this up when the tax hikes arrive.

Hey, I thought he was gonna open da books and the problem would be solved? And oh yeah, What happened to that $15 Billion Bond money already? You mean Ahnold presented only a half-ass solution as a full answer?

4. Yup, yup
And Ahnuld may find himself a lame duck very soon. Then, maybe we can get back to living in the real world. In the long run, their theft of the governorship may defeat them. If Gray Davis had had to run, they could have gotten a full-term governor. Instead, we just have to put up with this clown for a while.

I dont know the exact #s, but you have to get a LOT of votes to raise taxes in CA...

DEMS even tried to put a measure on the ballot (it failed, I believe) to make it easier...

18. Takes 2/3 approval for budget and tax
issues. Dems are the majority but they don't have 2/3. Our well informed, good government populace :eyes: did not pass the Proposition that would have reduced the amount needed. As it works now, the minority holds out and gets bribed with boondoggles to get their vote. So California spends too much money on programs that don't help all. It's very corrupt.

One of my biggest frustrations about California and I have many.

So he's fourteen billion in the hole? I know where he can pick up a quick nine billion...

14. Hey Arnold,
Fuck you!

Stupid ass voters in California voted for a movie star only because it would be "fun" to have a movie star as Governor.

His "big idea" was that all these new jobs that would be created because he rolled back the "car tax" would make up the revenue in the form of income tax. Of course that didn't happen, however, he fooled the masses into thinking the problem would go away if they simply charged the debit away with a bond. This insanity isn't going to stop until the inevitable full scale collapse of the economic system in this country.

16. For those that don't know let me let you in or a little secret
This recall that put Schwarzenegger in the governor's chair was never about doing what's best for the state of California. It has and was about the Republicans stealing the governor's chair. There is a very good reason why the Republians backed Arnold over the more capable Tom McClintock.

The reason is if they had backed McClintock then Davis would still be governor. They all knew what the real problems were facing the state and they also knew full well at the time that it is going to take real tax increases to pay the fucking bills. The people of California either did not know this or are complete idiots because they thought with the shortfalls they were facing they could cure it with an untried action hero facing the same obstacles Davis was facing.

Now that they have the governor's mansion they will over time let everyone know that voted for Schwarzenegger know that he has to do the same thing we got Mr. Davis out for.

24. He wasn't legally elected. The SOS had the voting machines tested a
few months ago and they didn't pass certification. He's not the governor. I think he was installed to steal the state for Bush(e-voting). Everybody's looking elsewhere, while they're quietly installing the machines. Of course the Dems are actly like nothing's wrong. Sometimes I think the Dems are getting are geting paid to lose.

20. Hahahahahahaha What a fraud.
I wonder what kind of taxes he's going to raise. It won't be property taxes. The rich won't like that. It won't be state income or capital gains, the rich won't like that. Let's see that leaves, sales tax. A nice regressive tax that primarly hurts the poor. He could also give Californias a choice. Raise sales tax or get rid of medicaid. Pit the poor and healthy against the poor and sick. That's the rethuglican way. These people are pure evil.

22. Ya mean those record setting bonds didn't do the trick?
I might be wrong, the whole thing offends me so much I haven't paid full attention, but didn't he get some huge bonds that fucked with Cali's bond rating and basically enslaved the next generation with horrid payments? So, now, as everyone else has said, he needs to negate the overkill of the recall and do what Davis would have done?

Cheeerist. How dumb can a poplace be? You elect a bad actor, who makes bad movies, who has been a bad busienssman (two bankrupcties with Planet Hollywood) to solve your economic problems? Some folks shouldn't even be allowed near a voting booth. :eyes:

My Economic Policy
California needs someone to terminate taxes.

BY ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER
Wednesday, September 24, 2003 12:01 a.m. EDT

I have often said that the two people who have most profoundly impacted my thinking on economics are Milton Friedman and Adam Smith. At Christmas I sometimes annoy some of my more liberal Hollywood friends by sending them a gift of Mr. Friedman's classic economic primer, "Free to Choose." What I learned from Messrs. Friedman and Smith is a lesson that every political leader should never forget: that when the heavy fist of government becomes too overbearing and intrusive, it stifles the unlimited wealth creation process of a free people operating under a free enterprise system.

And that is the essence of the economic and fiscal crisis that confronts the state of California today. Over the past five years our state budget has grown nearly three times the pace of inflation. Our debt burden has risen by more than the other 49 states combined. The matrix of onerous regulations we impose on property owners and businesses has made the cost of doing business in California almost twice as high as in neighboring states. Our tax rates have become among the highest in the nation.

And perhaps worst of all our governor, Gray Davis, has created a counterproductive culture in Sacramento where businesses and entrepreneurs that dare make a profit are treated as if they are enemies of the state. Mr. Davis says he wants jobs, but he has done everything possible to chase away job creators. Thanks to the economic policies of this administration, for the first time in California history more native-born Americans are leaving this state than are moving here. No one would confuse the destructive economic policies of Gov. Davis and Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante with the pro-growth ideas of Milton Friedman or Adam Smith.

I told my Democratic friends that planned to vote for Aaanold that it would be a mistake. But, oh no, they believed that he would be bipartisan-LOL and give them their $250 back on their car license fees( LOL/ we got the silly $2** $$'s back and we STILL are getting our taxes raised.)

And for those that have children in a CA college, forget it. You may get your refund of $2** but just wait until you get the bill for your kid's tuition for $2000+ more than you expected.

This man is The Emperor with Neocon Friends in the White House, wants to carry CA for the Repubs and has a Kennedy wife that he is using ,and possibly abusing, as a shield for his right wing beliefs.

He is a a Phony on steroids, an abuser of MANY women and a pompous idiot.
