Kerry to have shoulder surgery
Kerry to have shoulder surgery
Wednesday, March 31, 2004 Posted: 10:10 AM EST (1510 GMT)

BEVERLY HILLS, California (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry was having outpatient surgery Wednesday to repair a minor shoulder injury, and was expected to be off the campaign trail for the rest of the week.

Kerry tore part of his right rotator cuff in January, when he wrenched the shoulder while bracing himself as his campaign bus came to an abrupt stop in Iowa. The operation, which was being performed by Dr. Bertram Zarins, chief of sports medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, requires general anesthesia and should take about 45 minutes, Zarins said.Zarins said this week that he will operate through a 11/2- to 2-inch incision in the front of the shoulder. Kerry was expected to go home Wednesday afternoon, with narcotic painkillers for a few days, as needed. He will wear a sling for a day or two before being allowed to use the arm carefully, Zarins said.Kerry planned to make the most of his time before surgery.

1. Health Care, What A Luxury! It Must Be Nice!
One wonders when Mr. Kerry will support universal coverage for the 43 million Americans that have no access to a doctor?

7. TV Free For Years - His Message Is Obviously Not Getting Through!
I will only believe it when I see it.

After having no health insurance for over four years, I don't believe much of anything that is said on this issue.
