Tea party cool to GOP pledge
Source: Politico

By KENNETH P. VOGEL | 9/25/10 7:07 AM EDT

House Republicans' agenda, “A Pledge to America,” may be rife with tea party rhetoric, but judging from the reaction of some key tea party members, it has not struck a particularly enthusiastic chord within the movement.

Since the pledge’s release this week, reactions have ranged from mild satisfaction that the GOP appears attuned to tea party concerns to doubt that congressional Republicans will follow through on the policies outlined in the pledge to grumbling that it’s stealing the thunder of a more aggressive tea party-produced document called the "Contract from America."

Among some tea partiers, there was disappointment that the Republicans' recently released agenda doesn’t go far enough. There also were expressions of outright disgust at what some saw as a transparent ploy to quell tea partiers’ anger with the Republican establishment just long enough to get their votes Nov. 2.

“It’s a mealy-mouthed sop to the tea party movement that is rife with platitudes and little on substance,” e-mailed Andrew Ian Dodge, the Maine state coordinator for the Tea Party Patriots national coalition of local groups. “I have yet to see one person who is wholly impressed with it.”

10. Absolutely.
And the fox-spin will be that this means the repuke pledge is somehow 'moderate.' It is rather likely they will pull in a few teahaddists to decry how moderate it is and how it doesn't do enough.
