Rice may testify before 9/11 panel by next week

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The 9/11 commission hopes to hear public testimony from national security adviser Condoleezza Rice within the next 10 days, panel Chairman Thomas Kean said Wednesday.

1. she is going to be rehearsed like any good defense witness
the more I think about it, I think the whole not testifying business was a stall tactic. See what the other side has first. :(

2. To Some Degree Yes

They've gauged what they're up against and will respond accordingly. However, she's already publically on record with numerous contradictory statements and she will be called on them. There's no way for her to reconcile those statements w/out committing perjury, unless she tells the truth, which she absolutely cannot do.

5. Hey, Condescenda!
Remember what happens to perjurers? They go to jail.
Is 25 years behind bars worth it to protect
the Little Turd from Crawford?

"Heh. Hey Condi!
Remember to say,
'Cheney did it.'"

6. I'll be sure to pass on this one
That woman is nothing if not schooled and gifted in the art of the interview. It wouldn't matter if they had absolute proof that she deliberately caused 9/11 herself, she knows exactly how to finesse these Washington guys. She knows how to speak the language and has "the credentials" to get out of ANY jamb there. This refusal shit looks to be a big show to make the committee look foolish when she goes there and repeats "the truth".

7. I for one, will enjoy watching it.
It really is enjoyable to watch her tell more of her lies, and then watch the worry wrinkles make deeper grooves in her forehead. Also, whenever she lies she shakes her head 'no' as she's speaking.

If you look closely into her eyes, you can see the fear there. This is long-term fear, which has eroded into her psyche and made her completely paranoid about what she's said, how it all fits in with what she's saying now, and how to make the two fit together.

I never knew delayed gratification could be so gratifying.

9/11 Commission:
Coverage From American Progress

More on the 9/11 Commission

As most of America slept early last Sunday morning, the Bush administration hustled and bustled to prepare for the Sunday morning talk shows – among others Colin Powell was appearing on "Face the Nation" and Donald Rumsfeld was booked on "Fox News Sunday." Condoleezza Rice was not scheduled to appear until prime time, when she would make a star appearance on CBS' "60 Minutes" – the last in a long line of media appearances that caused 9/11 Commissioner Richard Ben Veniste to quip that "Condi Rice has appeared everywhere but at my local Starbucks."

Well, others in the Bush administration did, apparently, make an appearance at the local Starbucks. And as the Washington Post reports today, one of them – obviously readying himself to prep Defense Secretary Rumsfeld – left his notes on the table. Talking points, hand-written notes on spin tactics that reveal the White House was worried about former Bush adviser Richard Clarke's charges, and a hand-drawn map to the Secretary's house were found by a resident of DuPont Circle, who made them available to the Center for American Progress. The name of said resident is being withheld at his request, as he fears that he may be accused on national television of being "disgruntled."
