MSNBC: U.S. secretly negotiating with Iran
http://www.msnbc.com/news/946772.asp?0cv=CA01

The Bush administration is engaged in a secret dialogue with Iran to try to persuade Iran to hand over top al-Qaida operatives, U.S. officials tell NBC News .

THE THREE OPERATIVES are among the most wanted members of al-Qaida:
Abu Mussab al Zarqawi, an alleged poison expert who got medical treatment in Iraq.

Sa’ad Bin Laden, Osama bin Laden’s third-oldest son who is believed to be planning new al-Qaida operations.

Suleiman Abu Ghaith, the al-Qaida spokesman famous for introducing bin Laden in a widely seen videotape after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the United States.

Many U.S. officials believe that Iran is willing to turn them and other key al-Qaida operatives over to the United States or their home countries for a price: in exchange for members of an Iranian opposition group called the Mujahadeen al-Khalq, or MEK.

4. And besides ...
They've got WMDs, they're probably hiding Saddam, and we gotta free the Irani people. Come on, it'll be a cakewalk.

5. I thought Bush didn't negotiate with terrorists, or those who harbor them?
I mean if we can do this with Iran, why didn't we do this with Iraq? Rummy and Cheney had a lot of experience dealing with Saddam.

6. I guess we negotiate with nations that could
fight back if we invaded.

So the message that has been sent to the rest of the world by the first ever pre-emptive, first strike attack, invasion by the USA, assuming you don't count Grenada, is that they should start arming. BushCo has unified the world in starting up the arms race again, to protect themselves from him.

9. Maybe why Poindexter is leaving DARPA?
Perhaps he's 'resigning' to take another position. One in an area where the White House needs his special, um, expertise.

8. I think 'War on Terror' is such a tarbaby at this point
that they are going to try to make some quick symbolic nabs and call it over. Mission Complete. Bush is a hero.

11. If al-Qaeda is so damned important
Why have we spent the last year (at least) expending lives and billions of dollars in a place that has no demonstrable links to al-Qaeda?!?!? That is, Iraq.

:wtf:
