U.S. Says N. Korea Seems Ready for Talks
Edited on Thu Jul-31-03 09:26 PM by demdave
WASHINGTON - North Korea (news - web sites) has dropped its insistence on one-on-one talks with the United States and is ready to accept a U.S. proposal for six-nation negotiations on ending its nuclear weapons programs, the State Department said Thursday.

Officials said they expect the United States and North Korea to be joined by China, South Korea (news - web sites), Japan and Russia to discuss the issue in the near future.

Officials said President Bush (news - web sites) learned of North Korea's acceptance from Chinese President Hu Jintao on Wednesday.

3. I didn't write the headline, I was simply forced to use it.
I believe the news here is that they are dropping the insistence of one on one talks and will now accept a six nation panel type talk.

5. Oops sorry. I know...
I wasn't yelling at you, just exasperated over the news.

They were in multi-nation talks before. S. Korea, China, the US etc.

Korea has done everything but have Kim Jong-Il moon the US trying to get their attention...and now it sounds like Bush smartened them right up.
