Yemeni student arrested over UPS, FedEx cargo bombs released; she's victim of ID theft

The 22-year-old Yemeni coed arrested for mailing the two Al Qaeda cargo bombs was released Sunday after officials determined she was a victim of identity theft.

"Another woman had used her name and ID. Authorities are looking for that woman," a government official told Reuters.

Hanane al-Samawi, a computer science major at Sanaa University, was arrested Saturday along with her 45-year-old mother.

Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh had said sources in the U.S. and the United Arab Emirates indicated she had mailed the two lethal packages discovered lurking in air cargo bays on Friday. Her cellphone number was reportedly on the mailing slip for the Chicago-bound bombs.

2. Um, no.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/oct/31/al-qaida-bombs-sophisticated-x-rays

One official told the Guardian that the bomb inside a computer printer discovered at East Midlands airport on Friday, en route from Yemen to Chicago, was "one of the most sophisticated we've seen … The naked eye won't pick it up, experienced bomb officers did not see it, x-ray screening is highly unlikely to catch it."

http://www.thehindu.com/news/international/article861384.ece

The powerful bombs concealed inside cargo packages and destined for the United States were expertly constructed and unusually sophisticated, said U.S. officials on Saturday, further evidence that Al-Qaeda's affiliate in Yemen is steadily improving its abilities to strike on U.S. soil.

4. "...were expertly constructed and unusually sophisticated, said U.S. officials
If that is the case, why did they not go boom? The bombs were, according to USG, supposed to blow up the cargo planes they were on. Yet they didn't explode. So they "were expertly constructed and unusually sophisticated", but they didn't blow? I smell election cycle caca.

From this.

Jesus, we have become the most reliable dupes on Earth.

"U.S. Officials said......" is all you need to know.

Pathetic.

7. You shouldn't make fun of what it looks like.
What do you expect it to look like? A trigger doesn't require sleek and shiny.

And I am more than suspicious of this story. There are a number of red-flag elements:

- Package from Yemen, the designated Next Target Nation, although it could have been sent from anywhere.

- Addressed to synagogues but the US claim is it's supposed to blow up in the air? Which way do they want to have it?

- Saudi intel gives tracking numbers is a red flag in itself. The only thing more suspect than "US sources say" is probably "US and Saudi sources say..."

- NPR radio just said the tip came from a released Guantanamo prisoner who went through Saudi "reeducation" for jihadis, joined Al-Qaeda, and then defected again -- before the bombs were sent -- but somehow knew the tracking numbers. This would sound like a candidate to place with "Al-Q" (or have him start his own "Al-Q" cell) and probably arrange the plot, in the style of how FBI keeps pulling the terror stings. Then they announce the tracking numbers, no harm is actually done, and everyone's got a new huge terror terror terror story to run with for a few weeks.

To make it work best, it should however be a real bomb for whoever discovers it. See?

I'm sure a "Bin Ladin" will soon appear in an audio tape to take credit.

It's Official.

The country has gone irretrievably insane, and TPTB can get us to believe whatever they want.

It would not surprise me in the least to see reports in the next couple of days that Howie Mandel is a dangerous terrorist Mastermind that could set off 100 dirty Bombs in 17 different cities with his mind, using only a juicy fruit wrapper as a trigger.

They don't even NEED Bin Laden anymore.

ANY story, theory, no matter how ridiculous, comical, or absurd, as long it's "official", the entire country will shit it's pants simultaneously, and begged to be "saved" from bearded men with Turbans, hiding in caves that can split the earth's crust with a single word, any second now.

The Rubicon hasn't been just crossed, it's been left in the far distant end of the horizon.

Right, Left, Democrat, Republican, it doesn't matter.

No matter which "Football Team" has the ball, their respective fans will be the most useful rubes possible.

9. Yes it does. But I doubt the whole country...
is as you say shitting its pants over this. In apathy they may buy it, but most don't feel it.
