UAE traces serial numbers on Dubai mail bomb parts

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- An official security source says UAE authorities are tracing the serial numbers of a mobile phone circuit board and computer printer used in the mail bomb sent from Yemen and found in Dubai last week.

The security source told The Associated Press on Monday the UAE is sharing the numbers with other countries including the United States in an effort to track the origins of the bomb parts.

1. A mobile phone circuit board? Now that's a scary thought.

Pretty easy to use a mobile phone as a trigger, and it can be set off anywhere by someone anywhere else. Not a good sign. Maybe we need to be taking this more seriously than some seem to be taking it.

2. It seems like the UAE is too quick to release all kinds of info...

that might lead to the capture of the perpetrators. Sounds more like a PR campaign than an intelligence operation or criminal investigation.

The only info I need to hear is that arrests have been made. Preferably well after the fact, so that intelligence can be gathered and used. The terrorists must really appreciate the info on the security response.

7. Well, then speak for yourself. If all the info you need is "that arrests have been made," some . .

. . . others here, myself included, are going to require more.

The notion that we need to be treated like children because we are in existential and constant danger from some boogie man that we couldn't understand doesn't work for me (or others).

So let as much detail as necessary be published, let the truth come out as it always should, and let any trial proceedings be open to the public at all times.

Treated like children? Where did you get that notion from what I posted. My concerns are only for the security of the investigation. I do not need to know the details in real time. Of course, the perps should have a trial in an open court, if they are apprehended.

We are unwitting accessories in the propaganda war being conducted by the terrorists in collusion with the security apparatus of the police state. Do you think it is a coincidence that the timing of this incident is the week before a US election? I hope you are not that naive, but it appears you will just play into their hands.
