Schwarzenegger Congratulates Giants, Bashes Prop 23

Could the Giants' big win on Monday night help defeat a ballot proposition on Tuesday? Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger clearly hopes so.

While congratulating the San Francisco Giants on winning the World Series, Schwarzenegger trashed Proposition 23 — and its backers — on Twitter Monday night. "Congrats, Giants! CA beat Texas today and CA will beat Texas oil companies' ploy to undo our clean energy laws tmrw by rejecting Prop23," the governor posted.

Schwarzenegger has been a vocal opponent of Prop. 23, which would suspend the state's landmark global warming law. In campaign speeches, he's criticized the measure's primary backers, Valero and Tesoro, which he's called "Texas oil companies" motivated by "self-serving greed."
