Juan Bautista Agreda Chindoy, an indigenous healer from Colombia's Valle de Sibundoy, was arrested in Houston airport, U.S., El Tiempo reports.

On October 19 the medicine man travelled to the United States to give a healing session on Ayahuasca, a herbal mixture.

Border police arrested the indigenous healer due to the exotic herbs in his possession.

"He has been treated like a drug dealer but he is an indigenous healer," Agreda's family insists.

9. He won't be convicted. I'm suprised they're even trying to prosecute.
The USSC has already ruled on similar cases. The Religious Freedom Restoration Act protects the ability of native's to possess and use otherwise controlled substances for religious purposes. The government gets it's butt kicked in court every single time it tries this.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over, and expecting a different result.

11. If it's a part of a religious practice. (Has nothing to do with whether someone's "native" or not.)

14. Thank you so much for posting the link.
Isn't it crazy this country has been pouring over $500,000,000.00 ANNUALLY into Colombia to empower a government which has been connected to a military and paramilitaries which have been driving indigenous people off their land, and selling that land to corporations?

Gets arrested here, on a mission to help someone, while living in endangered circumstances back at home, with the U.S.'s blessing to the abusers.

Unbelievable.

Over 50 or 60 separate groups in Colombia are endangered now of becoming extinct because of displacement. Hope his is not one of them, and that he makes it back home before too long.

He should NEVER have been bothered here.

So much stupidity, so little respect.
