Republican wins Indiana Senate seat, networks project
Tue Nov 2, 2010 7:03pm EDT

WASHINGTON, Nov 2 (Reuters) - Republican Dan Coats won the U.S. Senate race in Indiana on Tuesday over Democrat Brad Ellsworth, the MSNBC and Fox TV networks projected, giving Republicans a seat previously held by Democrats.

The victory by Coats, who retired previously from the Senate and was recently working as a lobbyist, helps Republicans narrow the gap in the Senate against Democrats who are at risk of losing their majority in the chamber.

He will replace retiring Democratic Senator Evan Bayh. (Reporting by Jeremy Pelofsky; Editing by Frances Kerry)

4. So they call an election, and people don't bother to vote.
Fucking MSM is truly going to be responsible (along with their corporate masters) for the demise of America.

9. You got that exactly right. It's one way they're able to manipulate elections.

14. Indiana polls closed at 7pm. Although the networks had the exit
polling data, I didn't see them call it until official close time.

5. Evan Bayh is a piece of shit weasel who not only gave the seat away. He didn't give
a dime of his campaign money to Democrats.

13. Not true
Bayh gave heavily to Ellsworth's campaign trying to save the seat from Repulican control. That we lost this seat makes me absolutely sick. Coats is the weasel to watch out for. He and Mitch Daniels probably are already plotting Mitch's presidential run.

16. I've heard conflicting stories on the $ issue. You might be right. But I think Bayh
should've run and kept the seat. Not take the coward's way out.

23. I totally agree with you
But was only answering to the issue that Bayh never contributed to the election. It is rumored that Bayh might run for governor after Mitch(the bitch) leaves office.

8. Their testes should be in my deepfat fryer....
It should be illegal in this country for any newssource (public or otherwise) to project/predict/fantasize about a result until the polls close.

Their heads should be off and Coats tarred and feathered for his existence.

19. I hear you and congrats on getting out of this hell hole
I'm doing you one better. Me and my family are moving to Vancouver in July. I can't stand being surrounded by these ass holes in Indy any more. I'm retiring, my wife is taking a position at and my oldest daughter will be attending Simon Fraser University. My second oldest girl is going there next year. I've been trying to wake the conservative ass clowns up in Indianapolis for years. It's like trying to force a square peg (truth and information) into a round hole (their tiny fucking brains).I can't wait to see these teabag loving, fucking morons get everything they voted for and everything they deserve. I will be sure to get back in touch with my right wing family members who don't speak to us now the remind them I tried to tell them so. I will, as my daughters text, be LMFAO.

We were originally looking at Portland, San Fransisco and Seattle because we wanted to live in a more progressive area, that wasn't yet totally over run by idiots, but this opportunity came along and was just too good to pass up. My wife and I regret our girls won't be going to our alma mater, Butler University (a great school that we will always love) , but I really don't see any future for us or our girls in Indiana and after the election results tonight, and the obvious chronic stupidity of the vast majority of the American people I'm worried about the future we'd have in this country. We visited, fell in love with the area, this position presented it's self and the girls instantly fell in love with Simon Fraser so the decision was an easy one. It's not like we will be missed or we will miss anything here. Even our family hates us . Trust me, it is ill advised to be a liberal, inter racial couple with three mixed-race children in a bigoted place like Indiana. God, I'm gonna miss this place (sarcasm). God help America. For Indiana and Kentucky where I was born it's too late even for God's help. Rand Paul? Are you F**king kidding me.

12. Big f'ing surprise...
I could have called this one (and Bayh knew it) as soon as he announced his retirement from the Senate. Bayh was thought of as a liberal in these parts. Dan Coats is a real piece of work but at least you know where you stand with him.

Even he doesn't think he can be president. Unless the Indiana constitution prohibits it, I predict he will run for governor again. Of course this will be after a lucrative stint at either Fox of PHarma.
