John Kerry Bashes Politico, Huffington Post While Calling Harry Reid 'Lazarus'
Source: CQ Politics

Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) tonight held nothing back when congratulating Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for managing to survive a tough reelection bid tonight.

Here's Kerry statement:

"Politico was wrong, Huffington Post was wrong, hell, all the pundits were wrong. Harry Reid isn't just Dracula, he isn't just Lazarus, he's our Leader and our whole caucus is thrilled that he's unbreakable and unbeatable."

2. I'm glad he won too but as for Kerry, YAWN. Go away, John,
and take your little fisticuffs with you. You are too little too late to impress me.

6. Some will never get over it, I'm afraid. Sad and pitiful as that is.
They're going to be seeing an awful lot of JK for the foreseeable future.

and you are blind if you can't see that. I'm one of his constituents and I'm extremely proud of him--and we plan to keep reelecting him for as long as he wants the job.

4. A great statement and the win is a huge bright spot in an otherwise sad night.
We lost some good people tonight, but we still have the Senate and as much as the pundits and the Repubs tried, tey didn't get Reid. So, this is not the big tidal wave the pudits and Repubs were expecting.

of money that was poured into defeating Reid and Boxer, it is very sweet they both survived.

27. And California actually did really...
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 05:52 PM by YvonneCa
...well. We kept Boxer (yaaaay! no Fiorina) and re-elected Jerry Brown :7 and kept Meggie from buying our election. We shot down Prop 23 which would have stopped AB32 on the environment (which is GREAT and will make Al Gore smle :)). AND...we elected a Supt. of Public Instruction who will work WITH the CTA to improve education in California.

Turnout was HIGH...and not just by the Tea Party. I do REALLY feel bad about Russ Feingold, though.

14. Nothing weak? It was a strong victory?
He was facing an actual insane person. Not someone who has wild ideas, but someone who is completely unhinged; someone who thought it was a compliment to tell a group of hispanic students that some of them looked asian to her. Against that crazy person he just barely won. He shouldn't have even had to campaign.

12. I find him very weak as majority leader...do you think
the overall losses of dems will spur the rest of them to get with it and actually stand-up and fight back against the repubs? I'm not sure if they will, or if they will CAVE IN more often!

Maybe Al Franken for Majority Leader?

22. He has been there for only a year and a half
He is far too junior. Other than the fact that he is - obviously - the funniest Senator, why woul you expect that he should be the majority leader?

30. What we need is a public spokesperson for the house and the senate
Someone other than the majority leader to get up and tell the public what's going on.

Franken would be great for that role.

31. We need several spokespeople - speaking to several target groups
Franken is very good for the Jon Steward crowd - which is huge. We need to have that group behind us and voting. The Sunday talk shows are important, but they reach fewer and mostly different people. There, we need articulate leaders who can speak of complicated matters in such a way that they are more understandable, but not by ignoring that they are complicated - two of the best on those shows are Durbin and Kerry.

24. The Huff Post kinda sucks IMO, but for completely different reasons
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 02:25 PM by PBass
Half the articles there are stupid gossipy entertainment news garbage, and they take a Drudge-like approach to their headlines, and they are light on policy content but heavy on the 'horse race' crap. To begin with.

IMO

26. Totally agree - it could be because they really do not even attempt to be real journalism
most of the time. I agree with your assessment. The few "serious" articles they have are never fact checked. High school newspapers hold their journalists to higher standards.
