US spied on Norweigan protestors at Oslo embassy
Source: Monsters and Critics

Oslo - Norwegian officials reacted strongly Thursday to reports that the United States secretly commissioned surveillance of hundreds of Norwegian nationals believed to pose a threat to US interests such as the embassy in Oslo.

The surveillance was mainly conducted by former Norwegian security police officers and operated until recently out of an Oslo apartment near the US embassy. The group gathered information, took photographs of people at protests and entered the names into a special database, TV2 news reported.

The Surveillance Detection Unit comprised 15-20 people that worked round the clock. It was set up 2000, the report said.

'This was something I had no knowledge about,' Justice Minister Knut Storberget said.

According to other sources the group was called «Surveillance Detection Unit». The material produced went into an American system called Security Incident Management Analysis System.

So, im guessing maybe they have a file on me..

What are the chances of this coming into the mainstream media in the US?

And maybe the worst part, it happend withouth the knowlegde about the government in Norway for the most part... And if our Justise Minister do not had knowlegde about it all, then it might time to tell the US ambassady, and other government agencys, like CIA to show it... This is far worse than we think Im afraid off... And this happend in a nation who are friendly to US interest, not in some good forsaken enemy state where US have a outpost of sorts.. But in a firm, friendly nation to the US...

I doubt it wil come into Mainstream media in the US, maybe some of it wil came to Obermann and Co, but I doubt it wil be known outside of the few... who are interested in this

3. What's surprising is that it was done without the knowledge of the Norwegian govt.
Everyone knows the US spies on people both domestic and abroad, but it's pretty offensive to spy on the citizens of a military ally IN that country, isn't it?

4. Offensive, yes, but not too surprising.
The only slight surprise is that this started under Clinton, but I guess that just goes to show for how long this kind of crap has been going on.
