Attack ad admission in heated congressional race

The National Republican Congressional Committee is admitting it is behind the now infamous video of Congressman Bob Etheridge grabbing a young man on a street in Washington.

His challenger, Republican Renee Ellmers, was seen as a long shot until the video emerged in June.

The video went viral and many suspected the confrontation had a purpose.

And on Thursday, a front page New York Times story revealed that National Republican Party strategists acknowledged they were behind the episode.

It was apparently part of a broader plan devised to regain control of the US House after President Barack Obama was elected.

they will be ready to vote Renee Ellmers out, BEFORE she is even sworn in! Dating back to 1901 only 2 Republicans, David Funderburk & Renee Ellmers have been elected in this district. You can expect a dog fight in 2012! I will sure be volunteering for the Dem candidate.

although their plan wouldn't have worked had Etheridge kept his cool and just walked on. Regardless of whether this was a RNCC plot, he still has a temper...probably more than he should.

of this round. I saw an interview of her and she seemed like an incompetent, far-right fool. Some of the Repugs getting swept in this round truly appear to have been pulled from the bottom of the barrel.

he told the press in June that they were behind it, afraid that it would leak out. No one said anything about it till now. I just heard this on the Brad and Britt show out of Greensboro.
