McConnell: Wanting to beat Obama shouldn't be obstacle to working together
Source: The Hill

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said his desire to unseat President Obama in 2012 isn't any reason why the two shouldn't be able to work together.

McConnell, the top Senate Republican, said his publicly-known goal of knocking off the president in two years shouldn't be a hurdle to the pair's ability to work together over the next two years.

<...>

The Kentucky Republican drew headlines after saying shortly before Tuesday's election that defeating Obama in 2012 was his top priority for the next two years, a sentiment on which McConnell doubled down during a speech at the conservative Heritage Foundation on Thursday.

Democrats have seized on those remarks to charge McConnell with being a leader who won't work with the president in good faith, a claim which McConnell rejected.

Not only is McConnell a punk trying to backtrack, but he also doesn't seem to realize that he's not Senate Majority Leader.

3. One of the rethugs biggest lies, "we'll work with ya, Barrack".
It's true if you hear the unspoken part, "as long as you do it our way and give us everything we want up front". "Oh HCR," where you gave-in up front and we still screwed ya? Just an oversight, trust us, won't happen again, not in a million years.

We're a changed party now, what with this election and the people wanting us to work together and all. What? The tea party? Never mind them we have them in hand and they'll all be onboard the co-operation boat, you just go along to get along....buddy, old pal, old friend of mine.

8. McConnell knows Politics wins over Policy. This is how he
will be graded by the Media. How many wins he gets.

The Democrats ignore this year after year.

9. To some extent (and I hate to say this) McConnell is right.
Wanting to beat Obama in 2012 and also wanting to work together are not incompatible--it should be expected of two opposing parties.

However, McConnell's being disingenuous since he already stated his number one priority was beating Obama in 2012--and I've already had a taste of what they think is "working together" and didn't like it.

10. You really don't have to say it.
LOL!

What you described is a hypocrite who realized that no one liked his ridiculous message. Even Boehner left McConnell out there by himself.

20. OK then...
If Obama continues to acquiesce to these assholes, he will be a one-termer. He seems married to an ideal of "bipartisanship" that will happen when hell freezes over. The more he gives in, the weaker he'll become, not to mention further alienating his base.

Personally, I think he's done a good job so far, given the vitriol hurled his way. But he really needs to step up now and get his party in order because the stakes are too high to wimp out now.

Once again, I'm glad I have no children...

26. You're invited to polite negotiation at the dinner table with cannibals
Obama should literally throw that pissy little statement about dedicating themselves to making sure he's a one-term president right in Mitch's face in public and on camera the next time they meet, and he should ask for his suggestion on how to negotiate with someone who's simply on a vindictive personal vendetta while the people suffer.

The only pause Obama should give in this confrontation is for the Camera Ops to re-frame and push in on the little fuck. If our President can't figure out that people LIKE tough guys, then he's in for lingering torture and inevitable failure. There is simply no choice now, he must call them out for fighting Class Warfare, and tag them hard with the label of being monarchist so-and-sos.

Obama's mastered the Tom Hanks version of politics, but he really needs a lesson in the Jack Nicholson way...
