She was too nice to the repubs for my taste. But her replacement definitely should not be a blue dog.

5. SHE was too nice? How?
She got a huge amount of legislation passed, much of it finally enacted, and lots of it sitting and waiting in the Senate.

6. I would like someone Grayson-like
Maybe that someone doesn't exist, but now that we are a minority, bare knuckle rhetoric will be needed on occasion.

12. Takes more than rhetoric to govern, however good it might make US feel, imo.

14. She didn't do too bad...
Most stuff stalled in the Senate. However, I agree, give some new fresh blood a chance. She is good behind the scenes, but a horrible PR person.

31. She got stuff passed
But become the GOP bogeyman. It's a double edge-sword. Do we want a "face" or legislator. Both would be nice.

15. I dont support that.
Used to be that when the LEADERSHIP of any organization, any organization, was at the helm of great losses, defeats or otherwise. They would resign. I think she did an OK job as Speaker, and I of course prefer her politics to the alternative, but there is also an issue of self awareness and humility. In Fact, she did not do a good enough job for the country to trust her, and trust Dem control of the house. If she still has something to contribute, she can do so from the wings.

17. She was able to hold her party together in the House
whether in the minority or majority better than any leader in memory.

That's what the Democratic party badly needs and not just in the House - cohesion.

23. She needs to go......
I personally like her and think she may have appeared to be "soft" on the GOP because she didn't want to come across as mean and aloof as the first woman Speaker. But she became a lightning rod for those on the right and the capitalized on it.

She should move aside and let someone else take this role. That is what you do when you were in leadership and you lose.

24. Well said -
Let a true progressive take over. To me, Reid and Pelosi are too much in the way of DINO's - too compromising.

The Republicrats want to fight the Congress Democrats, the Democrats need to fight back. AT least, that's just my way of thinking.

25. You do know Pelosi was one of founding members of
the Progressive Caucus and the leader of opposition to IWR in the House?

Behavior not commonly referred to as DINO even on hyperbolic DU.

I must have been thinking of someone else.

Reid, at least, seems too much like a DINO on social policy.

28. And why not?
The lady is a class act. For all the shit she has taken from the reich wingers and the disgruntled left....she deserves a monument of herself.

I'm just frustrated with the left for wanting to burn her as a witch. I expect that jealously BS from the reich wingers...but from her own party...realizing the half wits she works with, just what in the hell do you expect of this woman?

She is a heroine. (sp?) She made her mark and she did the whole gender a great honor. We need to keep this all in perspective. Working with the democrats is like "herding cats". Some are spineless, some are nothing but repukkkes in D clothing, some are to be proud of...but they are a reflection of society, and they are as different as night and day...unlike the brown shirts in the repukkke party (minus maybe 2 or 3).

I tip my hat to this lady ANY DAY!!

....no one could withstand the nationwide onslaught of puke vitriol with as much poise and grace as you have....you'll be back in two years as Madam Speaker....

....until then, we have complete faith that you'll do a fine job of grabbing that Boner and stomping his balls....

32. Best Plan

She should run and have it agreed that she will lose so the house can look like they rejected her so it will help them in 2012. Put some old white cracker in there till we win back the house and then re appoint her.
