Republicans signal a hard-line stance after election success
Edited on Sun Nov-07-10 05:18 PM by NeoConsSuck

Washington (CNN) -- A post-mortem Sunday of the mid-term elections provided little evidence that Democrats and Republicans will work together to address major issues such as deficit reduction any better than they have in recent years.

Republicans interviewed on talk shows promised congressional investigations, an all-out effort to repeal health care reform, and steadfast opposition to any form of higher taxes.

<snip>
Republican Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia, who is expected to become the new House majority leader in January, questioned on "Fox News Sunday" whether there was any benefit to compromising with President Barack Obama.

The question was not whether Obama was willing to work with Republicans, as he stated last week, but, "Are we willing to work with him?" Cantor asked.

Get ready people. This country is going to get real ugly, real soon. Remember when you were kids, and your teachers brainwashed you into thinking you were living in the greatest country in the world? You'll soon find out how wrong they were.

I would love to see Obama make history as the first President to tell the opposing part to "Go Fuck Themselves" in the state of the union speech.

it's not the Dems who are uncooperative. Obama quoting him would get played over and over.

people need to realize these people have just one agenda, bring down the president. That is not in the national interest, it's pure bile and jughead crap.

14. Cantor, Issa, Boehner and a host of other jugheads are just waiting to be
nothing more than the assholes they have always been. These people are pure crap, and if they spend their time wasting it going after PO, I hope they get trounced.

Shame them on national TV at every opportunity. Ask a question, no specific answer, call them on it, and then just cut them off and tell the viewers that these people refuse to answer questions about how they will deal with the important issues this nation faces.

Better yet, don't give them any face time at all; no answer to question, you don't come back.

18. Obama will now be able to cast policy ideas in contrast with the GOP
He could be someone who will shine with an enemy in the congress. Although there's no one who can unify all dems and liberals, many of us will stand with President Obama in opposition to the conservatives.

19. Bueno. Just bueno.
Let Boner & Company shut down the government. Hell, the Senate's already been practically shut down for two years thanks to Blanche Lincoln, Ben Nelson, and Scott Brown. Just let everything be on hold until 2012. Those fickle voters will swing back. The Party of No continues to be the Party of No.

21. Shocked!
Why did Obama waste any time, good will, political capital, and effort on his lame attempts at 'bipartisanship'

As many have noted, if one does not have the courage of one's convictions when one's party controls the executive and both houses of congress, what is too be expected now that this well-anticipated, well-deserved loss has occurred.

My guess is our party's usual impotent hand-wringing and finger pointing.

We could have made a difference. We could have impeached the war criminals, restored justice, liberty and the rule of law to America.

Instead, we chose the course of continued repression of Americans, and of peoples around the world.

Shameful.

And it is this lack of CHANGE which so energized the voters.

24. Sore Winners....Who knew there was such a thing? In my entire life I have never seen an.....
election where the winners were so belligerent and antagonistic. The American people don't like sore losers. My bet is that they're going to despise "sore winners".
