US rejects Israel's Iranian military threat
Source: AFP Via Channel News Asia

MELBOURNE: US Defence Secretary Robert Gates on Monday rejected comments by Israel's prime minister calling for a "credible" military threat against Iran to ensure it does not obtain nuclear weapons.

"We know that they are concerned about the impact of the sanctions. The sanctions are biting more deeply than they anticipated and we are working very hard at this," Gates told reporters on a visit to Australia for security talks.

"So I would disagree that only a credible military threat can get Iran to take the actions it needs to to end its nuclear weapons programme.

"We are prepared to do what is necessary but at this point we continue to believe that the political-economic approach that we taking is in fact having an impact in Iran."

Senator Lindsey Graham: US should launch pre-emptive strike to ‘sink and destroy’ Iran

By Eric W. Dolan
Monday, November 8th, 2010 -- 11:42 am

Graham says military operations may be necessary, Gates says political-economic approach is working

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said the United States should use military force to provoke regime change in Iran if economic sanctions do not halt the Islamic Republic's nuclear program.

Speaking to attendees of the Halifax International Security Forum on Saturday, Graham said that although the "last thing America needs is another military conflict," having a nuclear armed Iran is completely unacceptable.

Iran claims their nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only, but many inside the United States believe the regime is planning to manufacture nuclear weapons.

"So my view of military force would be not to just neutralize their nuclear program, which are probably dispersed and hardened, but to sink their navy, destroy their air force and deliver a decisive blow to the Revolutionary Guard," Graham said. "In other words, neuter that regime."

............thinking about this. If all of a sudden we were the aggressive nation (like check out Wikipedia, I was fucking amazed) of the world and the Chinese or European alliance would be at war with us AND worse yet we would be "foreign" occupied. These fucking "chickenhawks" and teapartiers heads would explode. In honesty I wouldn't be too happy either, but how exactly can we stop it if TPB have the keys and the car?

27. No he's not
This asshat is just like his buddy McCain. He will say whatever it takes to keep his seat, and I'll bet that the TPers already have him in their sites for not being conservative enough.

So what does he do? He starts spouting off about starting another war, when we can't afford the one we're involved in now.

This is plain insanity, let the governments of the Middle East take care of their own back yard. Tell the Saudis and the rest of the Gulf nations, as well as the Israelis, that the US isn't going to send anymore of our men and women to die for them.

If they want this job done, let them do it themselves.

34. Sen. Graham actually served in the military.
From Wiki:

Graham decided to join the United States Air Force in 1982, and served on active duty until 1988. Following his departure he stayed in the military, joining the South Carolina Air National Guard<3> and the U.S. Air Force Reserve. During the Gulf War, he was recalled to active duty, serving as a Judge Advocate at McEntire Air National Guard Station in Eastover, South Carolina, where he helped brief departing pilots on the laws of war.<4>

In 2004, Graham received a promotion to Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserves at a White House ceremony officiated by President George W. Bush.

Graham served in Iraq as a reservist on active duty for short periods during April and two weeks in August 2007, where he worked on detainee and rule-of-law issues.<5> He also served in Afghanistan during the August 2009 Senate recess.<6> Through 2010, Graham served as a senior instructor for the Judge Advocate General's Corps, U.S. Air Force.<7>

Graham may be many things, but a Chickenhawk, he isn't.

Still a major right-wing tool pandering to the Teabaggers as they come for his Senate seat in two years...yeah, he's definitely that.

Edited on Mon Nov-08-10 12:31 PM by HereSince1628

Israel's prime minister has told U.S. Vice President Joe Biden that Iran must be made to fear a military strike against its nuclear program, Israeli media reported Monday - a departure from the Israeli leader's previous emphasis on using diplomacy to curb Tehran's nuclear ambitions.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, meeting with Biden in New Orleans, said that although sanctions have hurt Iran, Tehran will be determined to produce nuclear weapons unless it thinks a military strike is a real option, the media reported, citing unidentified Israeli officials.

With what went down in WWII The Big One... you know, back when the military took care of themselves, back when America put a lot of people to work to make war work. BushCo Style War doesn't boost the economy like that... and Republicans are all about doing the same damn things over and over again knowing damn well they aren't going to work the way they are lying about them working.

Evil. Pure goddamn EVIL!

If they have a problem with that then perhaps we would
