Christians in Michigan plan rally about Iraq violence

DETROIT (AP) -- Members of Michigan's Chaldean community plan to rally in Detroit to express anger and frustration over what they say is a lack of protection for Christians in Iraq after a bloody church siege.

Organizers say the midday rally Monday outside a federal office building will coincide with others in Chicago, London and Paris.

U.S. Iraqi Christians seek broader international help for Iraq's dwindling Christian community since the Oct. 31 attack on a Baghdad church that left 58 people dead.

Since 2007, thousands of Iraqi Christians have come to the Detroit area, which has one of the largest communities of people in the United States with roots in the Middle East.

The Crusades were a series of religiously sanctioned military campaigns waged by much of Roman Catholic Europe, particularly the Franks of France and the Holy Roman Empire. The specific crusades to restore Christian control of the Holy Land were fought over a period of nearly 200 years, between 1095 and 1291. Other campaigns in Spain and Eastern Europe continued into the 15th century. that we in Michigan live in a blended community. We do have a huge Middle Eastern population. I find it quite refreshing!!!!We also have a large Hmong,Vietnamese,and Latino population!!!!
