HARTFORD, Conn. -- Tom Foley, the Republican candidate for governor of Connecticut, has conceded the close race despite questions about the election process.

Foley said on Monday that his legal advisors determined that further challenges would not change the outcome.

His announcement comes as Connecticut Republicans seek both state and federal investigations into how the election was handled last week in Bridgeport.

Ross Garber, an attorney hired by the party, sent a letter Monday to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Connecticut and the Chief States Attorney following a preliminary inquiry by the party into voting irregularities in the state's largest city.

I am soooo cynical! I read that, and I immediately think, "Tom? If we get digging into this too much, our own shenanigans might surface. Let's take our loss, mutter dark innuendos about how the election was stolen from us for the next couple of years, and try our luck next time."
