Palin talks tough to kids on quantitative easing
Edited on Mon Nov-08-10 04:20 PM by sabra
Source: Reuters

Now that the midterm elections are history, Sarah Palin is setting her sights and rhetorical skills on the Federal Reserve and its easy money policy.

On Twitter, the former Alaska governor and possible 2012 presidential contender said she would begin a round of discussions at school events to teach children about quantitative easing to prepare them for the results of the Fed’s plan to boost the sluggish U.S. economy.

“Today:trade speech;tmrw school event 2 start discussing QuantitativeEasing w kids around US so they prepare 4 Feds experiment w their future,” Palin tweeted.

More than a few kids may be baffled by quantitative easing.

40. I'm not sure anyone knows much about quantitative easing except Bernanke and the hedge funds and
banks he'll be printing money for.

I get the impression that the financial sector is realizing they have played out all their ponzi schemes and now the only way they can stay afloat is with ever more complicated bailouts from the government.

They are like a glutton choking on their own vomit who tries to fix it by eating more and more.

Hopefully, they will be dead soon.

36. Her handlers prolly thought she should start throwing around relatively obscure terms
to show that she has smarts. But it's laughably obvious that couldn't have dreamed that one up herself...what an embarrassing idiot she is...

37. What I worry about is that her handlers have translated this to simple terms
She will speak of just printing more money and say that make all money worth less. Given her proclivity to demagoguery I would expect illusions of Russians needing baskets of money to buy simple things. She is already speaking of inflation.

What is odd is that the President does not and can not control what the head of the federal Reserve does. Something that Palin seems not to understand.

The governors on the board are nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate and serve 14 year terms - and can't be fired. The head (chair) is nominated from among those on the board by the president and confirmed by the Senate and serve 4 year terms. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chairman_of_the_Federal_Reserve Bernanke was renominated and approved in 2009 - so he is in control and can't be fired for another 3 years.

39. We Dems have to do a better job of educating people. Our message simply must get out.
Put pressure on the news media, even tho some of us are a little weary of doing so. What media outlets we have access to, we must access, and not just diss them all. Fox News is dismissable, Chris Matthews is not, IMO, wrong tho he may be on some things...

9. So if Obama tells kids to study hard and stay in school...
it's indoctrination, but she can go spot right-wing talking points (that I am sure if pressed, she couldn't begin to explain in any kind of detail). And I am sure the same M$M that was all over Obama will conveniently ignore this. This country has gone so far to the right that I don't see it ever coming back. We are fucked.

11. the truth is difficult to find these days
Ben Bernanke says this in defense of 'Quantitative Easing':
"Financial markets do not lack capital, but the capital lacks confidence in the real economy"

No, capital doesn't lack confidence; it just is playing games with the American People in order to line its pockets!

So she does this for a news headline, from her twitter account.
