Pataki Won't Rule Out 2012 Presidential Run
Source: NY1

Sixteen years to the day after his upset victory over Andrew Cuomo's father in the race for governor, former Governor George Pataki says he is not ruling out a run for president in 2012.
During a wide-ranging interview for tonight's “Inside City Hall,” NY1’s Michael Scotto asked Pataki if his active involvement in this mid-term election cycle meant that he was planning on throwing his hat into the 2012 presidential race. The three-term executive said that he is looking at the field and assessing the contenders.

Pataki: “I've learned enough to never say yes or no with absolute finality, so I'll see going forward.”

Scotto: “So you haven't ruled it out?”

Pataki: “No, I haven't.”

George Pataki has an ego that blinded him to reality in 2008, and is blinding him again. It'll take more than setting up a PAC ("Revere America") and jumping onto Tea-Party popular issues to convince conservatives that he's a potential Presidential choice.

13. No, Pataki does not support gay marriage.
He supports hate crime legislation, but not gay marriage.

Nevertheless, he would be pretty much unelectable even as a Democrat.

4. I was just saying the other day
Pataki should make a run for the presidency
Why should Guliani be the only former republican to hold office in New York that fails on an epic scale nationally

6. George Pataki is just about the dumbest...
...politician to come from New York in forever.
Really, he's just a stupid man.

He might actually have a shot at this...

9. Pataki is one of the few credible Republicans making 2012 noises
And that sums up the GOP's main problem: they don't actually have anyone. All the GOP names are either dumber than rocks (Pataki), corrupt (Gingrich), not acceptable to the Protestant Right who actually runs the GOP (Romney) or all three (Palin).
