Oil spill: BP 'did not sacrifice safety to save money'
Source: BBC News

An inquiry ordered by US President Barack Obama into the BP oil spill has given support to many of the company's own findings, challenging claims BP sacrificed safety to save money.

During a presentation to the oil spill commission, the panel's chief investigator said he agreed with 90% of BP's conclusions about the disaster.

Preliminary findings are expected to be released later on Monday.

BP has been widely criticised since the 20 April blowout in the Gulf of Mexico.

6. Oh gee whiz
I suppose you're going to judge the entirety of BP's corporate behavior based on that smidgen of 10% of their conclusions? You'd probably want to judge Ted Bundy by activitives that occupied, really, even less than 10% of everything he did in life. Golly, you libruls are soooo intolerant!

15. About the oil spill, yes.
He agreed with every word BP said, and ignored scientists who said differently. Do you believe 75% of the oil is gone?

31. Most of it has by now probably become something else
but I'm not sure quite what it has become. Whatever harmfulness remains will only become apparent with time. Comments from many "scientists" at present are pure conjecture. Hopefully there will be no long term residual effect.

Perhaps they did not sacrifice safety to save money, but to make it.

22. Oh, okay then
Well, I'm glad that's cleared up. So I guess all those engineers who were critical of the construction at the time of the explosion were wrong. And the reports of substandard concrete? Wrong.

This report has been brought to you, and bought and paid for, by BP.
