Chris Christie, while U.S. attorney, often exceeded travel expense budget
Source: nj

TRENTON — When he campaigned for governor last year, Chris Christie dismissed as a "dust storm over peripheral issues" questions about travel expenses he ran up as the state’s top federal lawman.

The inspector general at the U.S. Justice Department issued a report Monday criticizing Christie as "the U.S. attorney who most often exceeded the government (travel-expense) rate without adequate justification" and for offering "insufficient, inaccurate or no justification" for most of the excessive costs in 2007 and 2008.

Neither Christie nor the four other U.S. attorneys criticized was named, but three officials confirmed that Christie is "U.S. Attorney C" identified in the report. The officials declined to be identified because they were not authorized to discuss the findings on the record. The news that Christie was criticized in the report was first published Monday by www.MainJustice.com, an independent online news site that chronicles the goings on at the U.S. Justice Department.

While the total cost of what was charged over the federal government’s allowed maximum appears to equate only a couple thousand dollars, the report could become a political headache for Christie, who is waging war on government spending and the high costs of salaries and benefits for public officials.

1. i'd like to see how much traction this gets
especially since the President's "50 Jillion" dollar trip to Asia was accepted fact by bloggers and pundits before being debunked...

bizarro world fantasy of the cost of Obama's trip to India..

10. You're right! It won't get any...
-- and I will be shocked if Christie doesn't get physically attacked by some union thug he is pissing off.

Christie's brave, no question (I'll give the Conservative that much), but he is playing a dangerous game.

He's a joke--every move he makes just amplifies that he hookwinked NJ voters and now they get to pay for it.

Anyone who doesn't believe that there needs to be another tunnel into Manhattan needs to be removed.

His austerity shtick is laughable when you look at the size of his butt... red beans and rice ain't missed that mouth.

4. Money
This will get no traction. If Tim Geitner's issues were
overlooked then this will be, too.

Guess...like all repuke hypocrites, HE was entitled to first class everything along the way.

" Inspectors singled out a stay at the Four Seasons in Washington that cost more than double the approved rate of $233 per night, and took issue with Christie’s decision to pay $236 round trip for a car service in Boston instead of taking a taxi for four miles. "

9. Give a billion dollars to the State's millionaires and deduct it from....
the education budget. Why to lower property values by destroying the one good thing this state has to offer.

I hope the Low Info voters who helped put him in office enjoy watching a bunch of millionaires spend their money!
