Kucinich to force Congress to vote on withdrawing from Afghanistan after news Obama will extend war to 2014

Kucinich to force Congress to vote on withdrawing from Afghanistan after news Obama will extend war to 2014President Obama said he would begin withdrawing troops from Afghanistan in 2011. Now, the Administration says 2011 is still in play, but has begun floating the year 2014 as a more "reasonable" date for the war's end.

One Congressional Democrat is not happy.

Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) blasted President Barack Obama Wednesday over reports that he is planning to de-emphasize the July 2011 deadline for the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.

"When the new 112th Congress convenes in January, I will immediately enter a privileged resolution that will force Congress to vote on setting a withdrawal date," Kucinich said. "The withdrawal of our troops must be driven by Congress, not the corrupt president of Afghanistan."

3. It would seem that Kucinich would have a better chance of succeeding

if he were to bring up the issue in Congress now, rather than wait
till January, when there will be fewer Democratic representatives.
But, I suppose he has his reasons for waiting.

21. I don't think he believes his effort

will succeed in immediately bringing the war to a close. Rather, the best outcome would be through forcing a vote on withdrawal, and exposing those quietly working behind the scenes to perpetuate the war. Nothing will change until the public starts to get ugly about it. The public won't get ugly about it until outrage builds as a result of becoming more informed. That is where actions such as this come in. My 2 cents anyway.

The Republicans have had about half a century's preparation. Their 90%
ownership of the MSM today assures them that they can continue their
brain-washing of the American people for a long time to come. Evidence
of this is that about half of the people believe in their most outrageous
and stupid lies - lies that even a thinking 15-year-old can detect.

Things may be hurried up a little, when through debate in the House, the
truth comes out into the open. And the millions who listen only ato
Fox news will get the shock of their lives when they learn the truth for
the first time -- things that they have never heard from Fox News before.

I sure hope things will turn out this way. And millions of Republicans
will lose trust in their leaders, and a back-lash ensues.

Am hoping for and looking forward to that day.

President Hamid Karzai said at a conference in the Afghan capital that Afghan forces should be able to operate independently of foreign troops and secure the country by 2014.

And we believe this Iranian-cash carrying toady? Really???

Or as Dennis says ...

Our presence there is counterproductive, it keeps our troops in harms way and it opens to the door for the expansion of the massive corruption of the Karzai regime.

Pick one. I know who I believe.

Bring the troops home now!!! Not 2014, not 2011, bring them home by the end of the year!

9. Balancing our checkbook

Beyond past political promises. When we can't afford to go out to eat, americans stop going out to eat. Well, it's not just the war in Afghanistan, but also the war in Iraq. When we can't afford to continue financing these major, Bush blunders, we stop. Since nobody seems to even consider the thousands of soldiers who have been killed and the tens of thousands who have been maimed, let's just look at balancing our checkbook. I know it's created a lot of jobs for Halliburton and Black Water but those are very expensive and we just can't afford them anymore. It's a shame to leave 2 countries in shambles but less shameful than to continue the longest wars in our history when our economy is struggling to avoid collapse. Does it take a depression to convince us that we cannot continue to afford these 2 unwarranted wars?
My wife taught me that the best way to save money is not to spend it. What does it take for america to decide to stop paying the price of these 2 wars?
