Pentagon Investigates Leak on Gay Study
Source: Associated Press

Defense Secretary Robert Gates has ordered an investigation into the leak of details from a draft study about gays in the military.

The report, not slated for release until after Dec. 1, concluded that allowing gays to serve openly would pose little harm to the military.

Details on the 370-page study were first reported Wednesday by The Washington Post and subsequently confirmed by other news organizations, including The Associated Press.

None of the information was classified. Opponents of repeal accused the Pentagon of leaking selective details to sway public perception.

1. Okay, who told?
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

4. +1, Those were my thoughts
As for who leaked it, I bet it was someone who happened to be gay and wasn't asked, and isn't telling.

5. Amazing....
"concluded that allowing gays to serve openly would pose little harm to the military."

Something that virtually everyone has known since this site began, (and long before), and yet they act like someone sold our nuclear launch codes to Iran.

This veteran has served w/gays and lesbians, and I'll say this, not one of them let the services down, what has let the services down are those that are in the positions that could and should alleviate this disparity.

Equality for all, no exceptions and without delay...

8. CIA leak referred to Justice Department. The Deputy Sec State,
who actually leaked it was not tried. VP C/S tried & convicted on related felony charges, not the actual leak as the Fed Prosecutor know who committed the actual leak.

Pentagon study - not classified national security information, so no DOJ referral. Instead, DoD internal investigation only.

7. But the leak changes little if anything. DADT is still a law that most
likely will be upheld in the courts. President Obama has said he wants to change it legislatively, probably because he anticipates the political backlash if it's done by a court. While the President disagrees with DADT, he has never said or implied that it's unconstitutional.

9. Didn't McCain say there was no study?
Edited on Fri Nov-12-10 11:02 PM by AsahinaKimi
I am confused now. I could have sworn I read on here, that John McCain said there was no study about Gays in the Military.
