House Dems reach deal on leaders
Source: Politico

House Democrats have reached a deal to keep both Reps. Steny Hoyer and James Clyburn in the leadership, with Hoyer (D-Md.) serving as minority whip and Clyburn (D-S.C) taking a new, as-yet-still-undefined number three position.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calf.) who is seeking the minority leader's job in the next Congress, reached an agreement with Clyburn late Friday night, and Democratic leaders quickly announced the deal.

Clyburn's title and responsibilities were not specified in the announcement from Pelosi's office, and Democratic leadership aides scrambled to explain the deal to reporters.

The agreement ends a race between Hoyer and Clyburn for minority whip while also leaving Rep. John Larson (Conn.) as Democratic Caucus chairman, the number four leadership position.

1. Why not? In 24 months they will be sliding back towards their present positions.
Enjoy your stay, Mr. Boner.

2. Yes, the more conservative Mr. Hoyer will be the Minority Whip
while the more progressive Mr. Clyburn will be occupying a very, very, very important position which we will name just as soon as we can come up with something that doesn't sound like we made it up at the very, very, very last minute. But trust us, it's one of the most important positions ever created in the nation's history.

Even though the Blue dog caucus was decimated, they play at kabuki and pretend they still have to placate the blue dogs.

The first real proof that Pelosi is grandstanding and will cave as soon as ordered.

With Hoyer, an inveterate inside player; who knows well how the corporate marrygoround is played, the fix is in.

to the so-called "Progressive" Caucus.

However, if you really want to know which Rep is or is not "Progressive," look at the votes on the Iraq War, the WOT and the original Patriot Act (several parts of which have since been declared unconstitutional). And, maybe take a peek at the ACORN vote (also since declared unconstitutional).

Invoking Blue Dogs is a red herring that helps obfuscate just how many of our Party are center right.
