Emanuel announces run for Chicago mayor
Source: USA Today

<snip>

"Rahm Emanuel officially announced Saturday what everyone has known since he quit his job as White House chief of staff, hugged President Barack Obama and returned to Chicago: He's in.

To the surprise of no one, Emanuel, who has long talked about his desire to be mayor, told a packed auditorium at a school on Chicago's North Side that he is running to succeed retiring Mayor Richard Daley. The election is Feb. 22.

Emanuel represented the city's North Side in Congress before he went to the White House. He has been actively campaigning in the city since his return about two months ago.

"Only the opportunity to help President Obama as his chief of staff could have pried me away from here," Emanuel said Saturday. "And only the opportunity to lead this city could have pried me away from the president's side."

1. Going to let the sister's family to reject Rahm as their mayor.
Right now it's just two votes. '14 will add 2 more new Democratic votes from Chicago.

3. I hope he loses. I probably shouldn't wish that, but I just don't get good vibes from that man.
I think he's kinda sleazy and concerned about one thing: Himself.

I'm sure there are others who really have Chicago's interests at heart and would make good mayors.

8. I've never heard one actual person here say they are for him.
The business community is forcing him on us plus he seems to have lots of money so he has intimidated other candidates.

I like Gery Chico, a local lawyer who grew up in the 'hood. He worked for Daley and knows the innards of city government for the last 20 years or more.

He's intelligent, very articulate and already has lots of potential solutions to the city's big problems.

I'd love to see a debate between the two of them as he's just as forceful in his opinions as Rahm.

25. I fear a fix
he's not running without assurance he will win. I will fight him with everything I've got (which isn't much) but hell no. Rahm is a disaster for Chicago. I can't imagine he's polling well, yet acts like he's got it in the bag.

18. No Friggin Way Rahm Will Be My City's Mayor
Oh, Lordy this Rahm person is a very corrupt, arrogant man.

Although corruption is often a qualifying requirement to be elected in my fair windy city, his hubris is matched by his destain for the ordinary people.

Rahm just loves the Pritzker family and Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JP Morgan Chase Bank, and the uber-rich of Chicago-Washington, DC-New York and most of all, LA and Hollywood.

He was my Congressperson for several years, and he never did anything for our 5th Congressional District. No one tiny thing.

His good buddy, Rod Blaogovich, was my Congressperson before Rahm. Alas, Blago's second trial is delayed until after the Mayoral election. Too bad, as I'd love to have the public hear the complete audio tapes of Rahm and Blago talking about who Blago will name to take over Obama's Senate seat.

At the moment, I like Gary Chico who would make a good mayor as he's done a good job running the city parks department AND he's far more progressive than Rahm.

I have a Facebook site named:

NO Frigging Way Rahm Emanuel Should become Chicago's Mayor

http://www.facebook.com/pages/NO-Frigging-Way-Rahm-Emanuel-Should-become-Chicagos-Mayor/117523104971604

Cheers !

He's "Fleet of Foot" and "Savvy Enought" to know when to CUT THE CORD that BINDS him to the OBAMA he MADE!

Love to see CAPITALISM WORKING ...at IT's BEST...and RAHM...DEFINITELY KNOW HOW TO WORK "CAPITALISM" to his OWN ADVANTAGE!

GOOD ON YOU RAHM! (I hope you rot in the place where all sychophants go to Hell.)
