It comes as Nato leaders meet in Lisbon to discuss a timetable for handing over power to Afghan troops.

Stop The War Coalition spokeswoman Lindsey German said students and sixth-form pupils from across the country would take part in the protest amid a "surge" of anti-war feeling.

------

"Spending on Afghanistan is now approaching £5bn a year - money that should be spent on areas such as education and welfare, which are now under threat because of the Government's spending cuts."

1. They're in the streets because UK is spending 5 billion pounds a year there.
We spend more like 150 billion dollars a year on our wars, but not really a peep out of the peeples.

Go figure.

3. Too many peeples are quiet out a misguided attempt to support the President. I support the President
but I think he is so wrong about this war. I would like to hear his reasons to keep it going.

5. Hell of spot to be forced into, isn't it? No wonder he couldn't inspire a turnout for this last elec

tion. My party has forced me to vote for Dems for President, and Congress for the last two election cycles. As I Republican I voted for Cliton's second term. GOP principles are not familiar with Boehner, McConnell, Cantor, Pallin, Limbaugh, Beck and all those other so-called Republicans. I voted for Obama, not against McCane, I voted for Kerry, not against Bush.

Clinton was a good "Republican" President and I wish he could run again.
