Extending Tax Cuts Will Create Jobs: George W. Bush
Source: CNBC

As the question of extending the Bush tax cuts remains undecided, President George W. Bush defended the cuts on CNBC Monday, saying that they promote job growth.

“If one is interested in job creation in the private sector, it is important to recognize that lower taxes enable the job creators, i.e., small businesses, to have more money with which to expand their work force. And I would, yeah, I think they ought to be extended.”

...

Bush also challenged critics—both conservative and liberal—who have characterized him as a big spender, saying his administration’s expenses were justified.

“The debt-to-GDP (gross domestic product) was lower than only one other—was lower than every president except for President Reagan. And the deficit-to-GDP was lower than every president except for Bill Clinton,” said Bush.

“I was not about to put our troops into harm's way and not make sure that they were fully trained and equipped, and I was not about to let those who came back from combat have a veterans system that wasn't fully funded.”

Source: My Ass

As the question of prosecuting remains undecided, Internet denizen onehandle defended the trial and incarceration on DU Monday, saying that they promote job growth.

“If one is interested in job creation in the private sector, it is important to recognize that high profile criminal trials enable the job creators, i.e., the media and prisons, to have more money with which to expand their work force. And I would, yeah, I think they ought prosecute Bush.”

13. Lying sack of SHIT! The rich will continue to HOARD THEIR WEALTH.
Lying sack of shit daddy's boy assbag.

Did the first round of give-aways to the uber rich create an endless river of jobs? NO.

It has helped create near-historic levels of wealth disparity.

18. Because those tax cuts created so much economic growth since they've been enacted.
So George says the cuts promote job growth. Does he have even a clue about the unemployment that has stricken this country during the past 3-5 years? All I'm hearing is how much greater the concentration of wealth has been since the tax cuts and how the rich have gotten richer and the poor have gotten poorer while the middle class is shrinking.

What did Einstein say about insanity?

As for Bush defending his administration's spending, is he including the off-budget war spending when he's making his claim?

I'll bet CNBC took Bush to task for his remarks. :sarcasm:

19. The Bush tax cuts will
create jobs but not significantly as the rich can only hire just so many maids, hairdressers, yard boys, cooks, boat maintenance, chauffeurs, poodle trimmers, and manicurists.

23. Those who listen
to Bush would believe him if he said the sky was green. Among his lies, he put the troops in harms way by trying to prosecute the war on the cheap to benefit his war contractor buddies, then underfunded the VA. This is typical bullshit, he says the opposite of what really happened and expects someone else to clean up the mess----story of his life.

Edited on Mon Nov-22-10 02:48 PM by bulloney
If he was touring during the campaign season, a lot of people would have been reminded of the mess his administration's war mongering and economic policies left this country.

35. Pure and simple,
there is no such thing as "trickle down economy." J K Galbraith aptly
described the Reagan/Bush economy accurately as "Horse and sparrow economy."
The more you stuff into the horse the more likely it is to leave something
at the side of the road for the sparrow.
